wings like eagles: February 2010
http://davidseevers.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 25, 2010. Trek Up the Tower 2010. This was my third year racing up the tower. And i was able to cut 14 seconds off my fastest time. Specifically:. Overall Place: 24 of 1126. Place in Gender: 24 of 524. Place in Age Division: 3 of 124. Team Place: 2nd (Ryan W, me, Scott B). For me, the key was a deliberate start and an even pace. Gallup had a record number of climbers and i was proud of everyone's effort. Time to train and race on level ground for a while. Tuesday, February 9, 2010.

wings like eagles: Ka-Thump ... Ka-Thump
http://davidseevers.blogspot.com/2011/02/ka-thump-ka-thump.html
Friday, February 25, 2011. Ka-Thump . Ka-Thump. Although i am surrounded by runners who embrace technology that enhances the athletic experience, i've traditionally held off from attaching too much gadgetry to my person since 1) i'd feel less like a cheetah and 2) i'd be broke if i acquired all of the techno-bling that appealed to me. There is so much great stuff out there. Made things easier, but to just head out the door for a loop to wherever and know exactly how far i'd gone in real-time was amazing.

wings like eagles: January 2011
http://davidseevers.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 15, 2011. You know an Ironman triathlon is tough. i know it is tough. At least once per week you can see super slow motion video of athletes pushing through pain via reruns on the television. Ah, the pain. Let's take a closer look. Each of the runners in this first set seem pretty disheartened. This next group took it all in stride. Half marathon to go? These four didn't know what to think of the challenge ahead. These last athletes were not happy at all. What is the lesson here? Here's...

wings like eagles: June 2010
http://davidseevers.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 20, 2010. Road trip: The Mt. Evans Ascent. Just outside of Idaho Springs, CO. Billed as America's Highest Road Race, it gets its name because the race route is entirely paved and, well, the finish line is pretty high: somewhere near the peak of the mountain around 14,264 feet. Run 14.5 miles to the top, ride a van back down. Seems like a good idea. The flat-lander participants: Jodi, Ryan, Jim, Jeff, and me. We have 38 hours to get this done. Ready, go. 430am Awake. Might as well beat th...

wings like eagles: Ironman 70.3 Kansas Race Report
http://davidseevers.blogspot.com/2011/07/ironman-703-kansas-race-report.html
Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Ironman 70.3 Kansas Race Report. While i am three years older, my training has been going well and i am wiser, right? So, how would my 2011 attempt go? Anyway, check-ity check check. Flat kit in place. Everything packed. Up and at 'em in the dark and headed to our campsite that we used only as a parking spot. Very worth it as it saved us time and energy on race morning. Thank you, Gina Morkel for organizing those! Thanks, man, that gave me huge confidence. A small dose of reality ...

wings like eagles: May 2011
http://davidseevers.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 4, 2011. Pain Paaaaaiiiiin. PAIN. (pain.) Always lingering. Sometimes excruciating. It tries to wear me down, break my spirit, keep me from achieving my fitness goals, making life just a little tougher. I'm not talking about the discomfort and frustration from the occasional knee pain, hamstring pull, or stress fracture. These are bad, but i can deal with them. They are concrete, solvable problems. It feels a little selfish, really. Most people have a significant challenge or two or fo...

wings like eagles: September 2010
http://davidseevers.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Racing Season 2010 Recap. A stairwell, a marathon, a mountain, a dizzy sprint tri, a broken toe, and a 10K for the team. That was my 2010. The Trek Up the Tower. Started things off and gave me an early idea of my fitness level. From there, i worked so hard to have a good race at the Lincoln Marathon. And while i enjoyed the journey, my time was not what i wanted it to be. The Mt. Evans Ascent. Overall, i think i had a pretty good year of training, with the most intense stuf...

Sunday, May 16, 2010. The morning of the race, i felt good. i wasn't sick. i hadn't torn a hamstring during my last workout. My nutrition prep was good. i got decent sleep. What was not to like? 15 minutes before the race Jodi and i lined up in a comfy spot and relished the almost perfect weather. Removed some extra hats and gloves, National Anthem, kiss, hug, stretch, go. 4 days after the race, i still was having trouble walking, especially getting up and down curbs. My quads were especially sore...
