On the Other Hand, Who Knows What I'll Do? Back with more liturgy, theology, art, craft, cooking, and of course bitching. Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Bonus Recipe Links: Broccoli Gribiche plus. Here's a link to the recipe I made this weekend. I loved it and it was hoovered up at a potluck. Heidi Swanson's Broccoli Gribiche. Which is, strangely, not on her own really excellent and beautiful website 101 Cookbooks. Home of the infamous Golden Crusted Brussels Sprouts. Which could not possibly be better ).

On the Other Hand, Who Knows What I'll Do?: Recipe: Cucumber Salad
http://funkyfatgirl.blogspot.com/2013/04/recipe-cucumber-salad.html
On the Other Hand, Who Knows What I'll Do? Back with more liturgy, theology, art, craft, cooking, and of course bitching. Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Find a big lidded container. Mine was 10 cups (a little more than 2 liters.). I used one super-gigantic one and one fairly normal one, and I would have had room for at least 2 more normal ones. Peel the green rind off the cucumbers and discard. Then, keep peeling! Making long, thin, see-through strips of cucumber. Take a sweet onion. And cut into fine slivers.

On the Other Hand, Who Knows What I'll Do? Back with more liturgy, theology, art, craft, cooking, and of course bitching. Wednesday, April 10, 2013. I walked into my bathroom this morning to trim my hair. Well, trim is not exactly what I was going for. I was going to buzz my hair down to a quarter inch.but I couldn't find the right sized guide for my barber clippers. I must have lost patience, the last time I was putting it away, and just jammed it in a drawer somewhere. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

My friends swear that our baby won't remember any of this.at least for a while longer. Do-overs? God, I hope so. Thursday, May 07, 2009. Ian: You are mean. No - you are crazy. Crazy! Me: Hey, dude. You remember how, last night, Daddy reminded me not to call people crazy? Because it was not a good word to say? Well, he was totally right. We're not going to call people that, okay? You remind me and I'll remind you. Ian (mutters) you're crazy. Me: What does that even mean? What does "crazy" mean, Ian?

My friends swear that our baby won't remember any of this.at least for a while longer. Do-overs? God, I hope so. Monday, January 21, 2008. Why I smiled when Ian cried today. Because he was crying bitter tears, really wailing and struggling, upon BEING TOLD THAT HE HAD TO LEAVE THE ART MUSEUM. He LOVED it. He could not get enough. We spotted animals in the Rumi collages, babies in the All Religions exhibit, and ourselves in the many mirrored surfaces. A couple of hours? Anyway, I acknowledge that this may...

My friends swear that our baby won't remember any of this.at least for a while longer. Do-overs? God, I hope so. Thursday, April 16, 2009. I promised that, the next time we had a cork to screw, I'd show him how it worked. Ian is obsessed with the corkscrew. He was being Mr. Crabass this afternoon, and I suggested a picnic to jolly him up. We ended up sitting on a blanket the deck, eating grapes, cheese, and Girl Scout cookies, helping dinosaurs climb the Eiffel Tower. It was quite relaxing.

My friends swear that our baby won't remember any of this.at least for a while longer. Do-overs? God, I hope so. Friday, May 02, 2008. Last week, a bunch of people from our congregation spent a Saturday morning on various helping projects - some helped renovate houses, some did landscaping or stream cleanup, and about 10 of us went to a retirement home to visit the residents. Why yes, I am quite saintly. I am one saintly mother. And may I just point out, my little tiny ridiculous suffering is NOT particu...

Seeking the Sacred: October 2006
http://seekingthesacred2.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Continually seeking God brings us an awareness of the sacred in all we see. Story by Brother Dan Phillips. I read this several months ago on Brother Dan Phillips blog site. The sacredness of the story is worth posting here so more people can benefit from the message. It feels especially relevant to me today. Follow Up to Empathy. Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if you stop. As you stand and watch these two friends, y...

Seeking the Sacred: August 2006
http://seekingthesacred2.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Continually seeking God brings us an awareness of the sacred in all we see. Diversity Is A Good Thing. I’ve been doing a lot of journaling for the last couple of days. I’m trying to work through a relationship problem that has been weighing heavily on me. The realizations I have come to are not new ideas but are so simple that sometimes we just need to be reminded of them. I think I’m going to get outdoors and take some photos today. Posted by Gail @ 9:00 AM. Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Photo. Today I deci...

I work in youth ministry. You can tell, because the other day I realized that I say "Awesome." Not ironically. Sincerely. At least once a day. I also use it in text messages. But for some reason, it's usually sarcastic when I use it in a text. Hmmm.). Anyway, part of my (awesome) job is writing lessons for our kids on Sundays. The t...
