Living in London: February 2007
http://funnelweb2.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 20, 2007. This week is Community Pubs Week. Now, I love London pubs. They come in all shapes and sizes. There are the big "converted from a bank" trendy types where there are loads of different designer beers on tap but you'd struggle for a pint of Carling, the "tiny place on the corner" drunk old man types where Carling is one of the only beers left on tap and people sit staring into their glasses and the basic "locals" where everyone knows the publican and everyone drinks Stella anyway.

Living in London: June 2008
http://funnelweb2.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 30, 2008. Bodies under streets and wheels in the air. Thought these two recent announcements might be worth sharing. Firstly, the Museum of London and the Times news have worked together to create a map showing places in central London where there are skeletons still buried. Its a fascinating map and you can zoom into certain areas. No signs of any body parts, though the article claims that some of the bones will be put on display soon as part of the Wellcome Collection. Sue's family history: Getting back to source
http://funnelweb3.blogspot.com/2006/04/getting-back-to-source.html
My journey of discovery into the Perry, Little, Lumtin and Wall branches of my family tree. Saturday, April 01, 2006. Getting back to source. Last weekend, I discovered I had another convict in my family tree. Excellent, that makes 13 so far. Alice was proving quite a tricky person to find out about - her death certificate claims her father was John Randall but there just doesn't seem to be a record of her birth anywhere. Given she was born around 1804 in Penrith, NSW, this is perhaps not unusual. So I s...
Sue's family history: Creating a community
http://funnelweb3.blogspot.com/2006/03/creating-community.html
My journey of discovery into the Perry, Little, Lumtin and Wall branches of my family tree. Saturday, March 11, 2006. Over the many weeks that I have been spending doing my family research, I have sent and received hundreds of emails from people who, like me, are descendants of particular convicts or individuals. Its been really great and has helped me to capture so much information, stuff it would have taken me years to discover on my own. So I have done it. Its here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Sue's family history: May 2006
http://funnelweb3.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
My journey of discovery into the Perry, Little, Lumtin and Wall branches of my family tree. Sunday, May 07, 2006. Now I know why most people who do family research tend to be retired. If you're not careful, you can end up spending every waking hour on it - if not researching, then checking details, updating information, dealing with email, etc etc. Its never ending. Even people in some of the genealogy newsgroups I'm a member of take breaks. Mind you, many of them have been doing research for years.
Sue's family history: No such thing as a "dead end"
http://funnelweb3.blogspot.com/2006/04/no-such-thing-as-dead-end.html
My journey of discovery into the Perry, Little, Lumtin and Wall branches of my family tree. Saturday, April 15, 2006. No such thing as a "dead end". The great thing about doing your family history is that it really never ends. You never get to the final page of it, to the point when you have no more leads whatsoever to follow or no other information to find to add colour to the story. Like a computer game or a novel with no ending. And so it happened last week. It's a pleasure to assist in anyway. Fo...
Sue's family history: You can't do it all on the Internet.........
http://funnelweb3.blogspot.com/2006/02/you-cant-do-it-all-on-internet.html
My journey of discovery into the Perry, Little, Lumtin and Wall branches of my family tree. Sunday, February 26, 2006. You can't do it all on the Internet. But you can do a hell of a lot of it! You can't do it all on the Internet. The message we were given when we attended the free talk about family research a couple of weeks ago at the Family Records Centre. Well, all I can say is that so far I have done almost all my research exactly through that channel. NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
Sue's family history: January 2006
http://funnelweb3.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
My journey of discovery into the Perry, Little, Lumtin and Wall branches of my family tree. Saturday, January 28, 2006. What do I want to know? Fine - so after working through what I knew, I then needed to decide what more I wanted to know. Or rather, how much information I wanted to try and discover about my ancestors. In project management terms, think of it as the scope. I'm no genealogist (more on that later! Three historical records: births, deaths and marriages. Except for the convicts, of course.

Sue's family history: October 2006
http://funnelweb3.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
My journey of discovery into the Perry, Little, Lumtin and Wall branches of my family tree. Sunday, October 08, 2006. I was amazed to see that it had been three months since I last updated my family history site. Still, the good thing about a history site is that at least things don't become out of date. And once its brought up to date, I'll try - again - to fill in some of the gaps. Winter is coming so it will be too cold to do much else. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
