Umzimvubu Retreat was founded and established in 1999. Dries, Elsa and Christi, decided early 1999 that they were tired of the fast lane and city life. They resigned their full time jobs, took their savings and bought the property, offering up all their security. With the existing building on the property being in a total state of disrepair, intensive and hard work was at the order of the day. Yet, new opportunities arose and adjacent properties were secured and further repairs and upgrades were underway.
