Every day, Monday through Saturday, Meena, the preschool teacher, takes the CRHP bus to the nearby slum to pick up her students. The kids are unbelievably adorable. Every time I walk by the preschool, a cluster of them press their faces to the gate, yelling Hi! August 17, 2011 · 4:01 am. Long walks on the beach. One of the t...

Firsts in 2014 | Dreaming in Cathedrals
https://legeredelibo.wordpress.com/2015/01/18/firsts-in-2014
A ghost of a bad mood. January 18, 2015. Lived with the most number of housemates in one year (Sarah, Denise, Ona, Becky, Dmitriy, Ken). Kept a worm bin in the living room and practiced vermiculture all year. Bit off more than i could chew. And found people to help me. And was successful (delineating hog sprayfields). Lunch group at school/ENVR (everyone cooks one day of the week for everyone else). Experienced someone’s suicide. Started building an indoor vertical garden/shelving unit. Next Post →.

Just another WordPress.com site. Monthly Archives: August 2013. August 23, 2013. It’s like absorption in reverse, in relief. It’s sharp relief, you know, being here with people again. They are like buds opening, a colorful anachronistic spring as they seep out of every pore of the earth, cracks I cannot find … Continue reading →. First Time (In a Long Time). Shelton P. Maldonado. Adventures – Currently Nairobi, Kenya. The occasional update on my time in Nairobi. End of the line. June 10, 2009 – 6:25 AM. Today was my last day at the hangar. What depressing finality. Of course all of the farewells contained some version of, Well of course you’ll come back some day soon right? To which I could only say, Yeah, I hope to anyway. Who knows if and when I’ll get a chance to return to Kenya, though I really would like to some day. David, Tim, and I. Laquo; winding down. Posted October 6, ...

Adventures – Currently Nairobi, Kenya. The occasional update on my time in Nairobi. May 15, 2009 – 5:24 AM. Much of the rest of my time in the hangar has been dominated by work on the modified DC-3 with turboprop engines. I didn’t realize, but it’s the only DC-3 in east Africa, so maintenance on it can be kind of tricky sometimes. We’ve just been doing a general inspection the last couple of days, so I’ve gotten to climb all over and in it, which has been fun. Laquo; Previous Post. Enter your comment here.

Adventures – Currently Nairobi, Kenya. The occasional update on my time in Nairobi. June 1, 2009 – 7:57 AM. Go, swift messengers,. To a people tall and smooth-skinned,. To a people feared far and wide,. An aggressive nation of strange speech,. Whose land is divided by rivers. I got to fly over the southern reaches of the Nile! Anyway, I’ve gotten tired of whacking myself in the ear every time I hear a mosquito buzzing around it, so I’m gonna go to bed and let them eat me while I dream. You are commenting...

Crimson Tide Alabama | Dreaming in Cathedrals

A ghost of a bad mood. January 17, 2014. I got the phone call driving home from tutoring. And as communities in Las Vegas, Chapel Hill, Alabama, and other pockets of the United States all began to feel confusion and a tremendous sense of loss, I sat sobbing. When a tragedy happens… what can you say? What can you do? What sort of message of hope can there be? That we should not be afraid to ask hard questions. Not be afraid to break the silence or hurt someone’s feelings if it means asking them ...And so ...
