Sermons In Song: Shir Khadash
http://www.sermonsinsong.com/p/shir-khadash.html
Where preaching embraces art, and art proclaims the gospel (Colossians 3:16). Writing a Sermon in Song. Is the blog where I (Tom) write on various topics, mostly related to living out the gospel. Some might wonder about the title of the blog. So the following is an explanation of the title and also the mission of the blog:. It is interesting to note that this new song ("Shir Khadash" is a transliteration of the Hebrew here) is a song that you can see, not only a song that you can hear. It is a song t...

Where preaching embraces art, and art proclaims the gospel (Colossians 3:16). Writing a Sermon in Song. Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Why "Sermons in Song"? Sermons – Let the Word of Christ. Sermons – Dwell in You Richly. Even a church that has a full complement of Bible teaching can be weakened because they are not vitally saturated with the Word of God. It is important to note that this phrase isn’t simply a reference to the fact that the Bible is everywhere present, so what could be missing? In light...

Where preaching embraces art, and art proclaims the gospel (Colossians 3:16). Writing a Sermon in Song. Thursday, March 31, 2011. Dangerous Fences - Higher and Stronger (Walls and Fences). A few weeks after building the fence between us and our son, we were sitting at the kitchen table of our daughter's house. The mood was sad, and we missed our son's lively conversation. It broke our hearts to have to cut him off like that, but what else could we do? The difficulty of keeping the children occupied in th...

Where preaching embraces art, and art proclaims the gospel (Colossians 3:16). Writing a Sermon in Song. Friday, September 10, 2010. As we approach the coming week, we are anticipating a wonderful couple days focused on the exposition of Scripture. Some might wonder why such a conference is necessary. Don't all pastors preach the Bible? Sadly, there is a dearth of preaching that accurately proclaims what God says. If you are going to claim that you are proclaiming God's Word, you dare not obscure what He ...

Where preaching embraces art, and art proclaims the gospel (Colossians 3:16). Writing a Sermon in Song. Writing a Sermon in Song. Indeed, we are not entirely done with this project, as I have begun working on a series of songs starting with Psalm 111 and culminating in Psalm 118 (also Messianic). Nothing could be further from the truth. To do this, I am looking for an overal emotional tone - for example: joyous, contemplative, agressive, or sorrowful. That will form an emotional core for the song's m...

Where preaching embraces art, and art proclaims the gospel (Colossians 3:16). Writing a Sermon in Song. Thursday, May 20, 2010. Excellent Post on Worship. Here is a snippet:. But for many people, going to church and worshipping is still the place to go to be sad; sad in a way that dignifies the human soul, magnifies a Sovereign Lord, and replenishes the human spirit with deep, inexpressible joy. It’s the kind of worship that actually believes the words of Jesus: Blessed – blessed! Put your hands together!

Where preaching embraces art, and art proclaims the gospel (Colossians 3:16). Writing a Sermon in Song. Thursday, February 4, 2010. We have now been on the road for almost two years, and God has been faithful to provide every step of the way. As we look forward to the coming years, we continue to anticipate His provision. Many of you have been instruments of God's supply, and we are humbled and grateful for all that He has done, both for us and through us. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Should deliberately ...

Where preaching embraces art, and art proclaims the gospel (Colossians 3:16). Writing a Sermon in Song. Saturday, February 19, 2011. What do we do? Are you an evangelist? God is, in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, and we endeavor to participate with Him in that ministry of reconciliation. If this fits your definition of an evangelist who preaches the gospel, then I will gladly consent to the label. According to Colossians 3:16. Are you a musician? We further believe that diversity in music shou...

Where preaching embraces art, and art proclaims the gospel (Colossians 3:16). Writing a Sermon in Song. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. One friend responded to challenge this, asking how that squares with the confident approach to Christ that Hebrews 4:16 encourages, Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. It is a good question. Monday, April 25, 2011. Meditations from the Psalms: Twitter Feed Explanations. Wednesday, April 20, 2011.

Further Up and Further In. Wednesday, July 26, 2006. Why I feel like a hypocrite. For all my talk about community, for all of my focus on how love comes around and is best known through a tight relational body, for all my belief that true friends get in your face - no one has asked me the difficult questions recently. But I haven't been asked the difficult questions. I haven't been handled aggressively, shaken for all my fruits. And a large part of that is my intentional fault. Posted by jasdye at 9:46 AM.
