Monday, July 16, 2007. I didn't summit Mt. Fuji. We tried, and made it to the 7th Station, but the typhoon made it nearly impossible to go any further. At 11:30 pm, I swallowed my pride and admitted defeat. After months of planning and hours of research, it was tough for me to descend without reaching the top. Monday, June 26, 2006. To put it plainly, Shikoku was beautiful. So much of Shikoku was just forest, jungle (probably not but it felt muggy enough to be! I apologize for the shaky picture but as you can tell by the GPS system, Japan is definitely NOT driver-friendly. Mountainous terrain, 360 degree paths, off-road terrain, 90 degree turns, poorly lit tunnels, etc. were just some of the obstacles we had to drive through. Thursday, June 28, 2007. It looks like Mt. Fuji is still covered in snow despite the beginning of the "official" climbing season starting this Sunday. Volunteers have been trying to clear the snow to make way for the climbers that traditionally ascend the mountain on the first day.
