Pic-A-Star - building a box for it. I decided early on that I would complete all the modules and have Pic-A-Star working on a breadboard. Before building a case. In designing the case, key decisions were:. Whether to have te key pad on the right or the left of the display. Whether to have an analoge meter - which would increase the size of the front panel. What material to use: ie a metal (aluminium) case or a case made of double sided PCB. I decided on left keypad, no analogue meter and double sided PCB.

Picswr is an add-on project for the PicAStar transceiver. It provides forward and reflected power and SWR metering. Using the 12-LED display and the analoge S-meter (if fitted). The hardware installation is an SWR bridge and a small baord containing. A PIC16F876 processor and an ST232N RS232 interface chip. Is a PC based calibration program for Picswr. Installs Calswr on your PC together with. All the necessary docmentation and PIC software for Picswr. Circuit schematics and PCB layouts.

Welcome to my web page. I obtained my licence in November 1966 and my main interests are homebrew and DXing. My first rig was a VFO controlled TX for top band, it had three valves with a 6V6 PA. The RX at this time was an AR88LF. My first SSB rig was a homebrew transceiver for eighty metres and was mainly valves. It used surplus 455kHz crystals for the filter. The PA used a 5B254M and produced 60W PEP. In those days on phone it was mainly AM. My current antenna is Trap dipole for covering 40, 80 and 160M.
