My amateur radio interests go back to about 1962, but it wasn't until 1970 that I got my first licence, G8EMY. In 1974 I took the morse test and obtained the call G4DDK. The Black Mountains, S. Wales. My QSO partner was the late Phil, GW3PPF. It wasn't until I moved to the flat coastal lands of Suffolk that I was really able to indulge my interest in UHF and microwaves, designing and building equipment for 23cm all the way to 1.2cm including transverters and converting an old NEC Pasolink for 47GHz.

13cm - VK2DAG - 472 KHz to 474 THz -
http://vk2dag.com/cm/13cm
Amateur Radio - DC to Light. 472 KHz Transverter & Transceiver. Past & Present. Awards, placings or just posing. While I was out. Cycle & Touring. Started off with a VK5EME 13cm kit and LO. Once I had built it I wasn’t very happy with the stability of the finicky LO. But it did good service for 2.4 GHz local stuff but I still wanted to get on EME. So then I got myself a DEMI. After some testing with Steve VK2XDE we found that the DEMI transverter will play OK on 2.4 GHz as well. As now I use a Kuhne.

G0MGX In the Shack: December 2014
http://g0mgx.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
G0MGX In the Shack. Musings from the Radio Shack of G0MGX in Central England. Monday, 15 December 2014. I mentioned a post or two ago that I had sold some things, and bought some things. One of the things I sold was my good faithful FT-847 that I worked on back here:. Http:/ g0mgx.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/ft-847-pre-amp-installation.html. And the modified the PA back here:. Http:/ g0mgx.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/ft-847-pa-mod-theres-better-way.html. I am very pleased that Marcus is pleased :-). But now there ...
G4DDK- A radio blog: June 2015

G4DDK- A radio blog. An amateur radio blog covering many aspects of amateur radio, including VHF, UHF and Microwave. Monday, 22 June 2015. I have made a bit more progress on my EME dish refurbishment. The dish is back on the mount and the quadrapod is also in place and connected to the feed point cage. Thanks to G4DZU I obtained a length of flexible 4 inch ducting to carry the coax cables and DC control cables between the dish and outdoor shack. The duct has yet to be buried. G4DDK- A radio blog. An amateur radio blog covering many aspects of amateur radio, including VHF, UHF and Microwave. Wednesday, 5 August 2015. I spent a bit of time today trying to figure out how to mount my 9cm RA3AQ feed to the cage on my EME dish. This evening I managed to mount the feed to a surplus aluminium box chassis of the right height to bring the centre of the feed in line with the centre of the dish. G4DDK- A radio blog. An amateur radio blog covering many aspects of amateur radio, including VHF, UHF and Microwave. Friday, 23 January 2015. I was last on EME ( apart from some listening on 2m) 2 1/2 years ago when I made my last 23cm EME QSO. I did operate briefly on 6cm EME in July/August 2012, just before EME2012. I wanted to work the TM8PB Plumier Bodeau set up, which I did ; and several more besides. Since then, zilch. Nada. Long term I really want to try 3cm and to that end I have already started ...

G4DDK- A radio blog. An amateur radio blog covering many aspects of amateur radio, including VHF, UHF and Microwave. Thursday, 27 August 2015. I have decided it is time to clear the workbench. I am down through the first (top) layer and starting to find the interesting stuff like coax adapters, tools and missing components. I'm hoping a clean bench will provide the encouragement I need to get on and complete some of the current ( stalled) projects. Sunday, 9 August 2015. Sun noise was 12dB above cold sky...
G4DDK- A radio blog: First 144MHz EME QSO
http://g4ddk.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-144mhz-eme-qso.html
G4DDK- A radio blog. An amateur radio blog covering many aspects of amateur radio, including VHF, UHF and Microwave. Wednesday, 29 July 2015. First 144MHz EME QSO. After spending much of today removing my 4/6m yagi from the mast in order to put the 144MHz yagi back up I was rewarded with my first 144MHz EME QSO! Almost predictably the QSO was with I2FAK. Using 200W of JT65b to a YU7EF and one of my PGA144 preamps, Franco reported my signal at -21dB and he was up to -15dB with me, averaging -18dB. Retired...

G4DDK- A radio blog. An amateur radio blog covering many aspects of amateur radio, including VHF, UHF and Microwave. Friday, 31 October 2014. Most of today was spent building a144MHz masthead preamplifier. I have not used a masthead preamp on 144MHz previously, but for MS and especially EME, a preamp is essential and I really wanted to see how much difference it would make. The active preamp stage uses a PGA 103 PHEMT on a WA5VJB PCB. N connectors are used to connect to the preamplifier input and output&...

G4DDI Home
Keeping vintage radios alive! British Amateur Radio Station G4DDI is located between Boston and Spilsby in Lincolnshire,. This is my Shack; this picture was taken in July 2004, when the shack was reasonably tidy! It doesn't always look like this! I have no time for those so-called radio amateurs who buy a box from a dealer for silly money and then take it back if something goes wrong with it, but I will talk all day to anyone prepared to build, experiment, repair! How I got into Amateur radio.

G4DDK- A radio blog. An amateur radio blog covering many aspects of amateur radio, including VHF, UHF and Microwave. Thursday, 21 September 2017. Future of this Blog. A number of my blog readers have asked why my later postings have all disappeared? I tried to remove the whole blog, without success, so I have been gradually removing individual postings. This is a slow process. Not made easier by iPad Blogger 64 bit! Saturday, 9 March 2013. Today I bought a P3 kit to go with my Elecraft K3 transceiver.

Those wonderful green lawns many homeowners care about so much can be made much more healthy if we put them on a diet. Overfeeding causes as many problems with lawns as it does with people. Fat lawns are not healthy lawns. Rather than go on about this problem, let me simply tell you about the research at the University of Guelph. The next question is how much food does the lawn need? For cool weather ...
