Chronic Lyme Disease Info. What does chronic mean? Chronic means ongoing, lasting a long time, as opposed to an acute illness (such as the flu) that has an abrupt onset and runs a short course. Lyme disease turns into a chronic illness when it goes untreated and undiagnosed. Head, Face, Neck. Jaw pain or stiffness. Double or blurry vision. Pain in eyes or swelling. Buzzing or ringing ears. Confusion, difficulty thinking. Getting lost/going to the wrong place. Forgetting how to perform simple tasks.
