Coffee stuff and other stuff. I guess the countdown to the end of the world starts now right? The Mrs. and I are thinking of our vacation in May. I have never been to Europe before, and we have been saving for a couple of years to take this trip, possibly before we start thinking about a family. I am not super fond of thinking about traveling with a sniveling babe. No thanks. I have lots on the brain, about all sorts of things. Maybe this is the getting older part. Deeper archives. Coffee stuff and other stuff. Sorry about that. Been away a bit. Some things have shifted, changed, improved and even flourished while I wasn’t posting. Third, we purchased a home in the bay area. Unreal. Fucking awesome and a testament to hard work, commitment and GREAT credit. LOL. We have had this dream for years, and finally were able to make it a reality. Coffee stuff and other stuff. The end of 2012. Wow, it’s been quite a bit since I last posted. Seems like I always wait until almost the end of the year to reflect in the digital age/world. I never thought I would be a full time green buyer, just as I never thought I would like spreadsheets. Alas, I am and I do. I certainly do not give a shit, except for the quality of your heart. This is all that matters, and all that folks will remember anyway. If they remember anything about you at all. I would say my...

Random musings of an (ex)professional barista. The La Marzocco Linea Mini - a Linea for Your Home. It's 10 years after my La Marzocco GS/3 review for Home-Barista.com. La Marzocco has announced a new home machine - the Linea Mini. And I am reviewing it for Home-Barista.com. Suffice it to say that I'm pretty damn excited. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Random musings of an (ex)professional barista. On False Equivalencies (or How Hipsters Are Ruining Coffee). I tend to think a lot about some of the challenges facing craft or artisan coffee. Over time, these challenges have changed. Whereas once upon a time simple relevancy was a huge challenge, the last three years have seen a widespread market adoption of the high end of coffee in the US. Unfortunately, the hipster market is a challenging one. In a number of ways. While I'm a huge fan of Tonx - this st...

Random musings of an (ex)professional barista. Off-Topic: Food and Travel in Europe. The following is a brief diversion from my normal coffee-centric blogging. But given that most people who are into coffee tend to also like food - I thought this might be the right place (and of some interest to you). I just returned from what one might call a "trip of a lifetime.". First Let's go through the stand-outs, ranked purely subjectively. L'Arpege - Paris, FR. And about Alain Passard. Random musings of an (ex)professional barista. An Open Letter to SF Cyclists. Dear Cyclists of SF,. I should be your biggest advocate. I'm a progressive educated lefty who is opposed to motor vehicle use in cities. I'm a bike owner and bike rider who grew up riding and racing and worked in a bike shop. My bikes have included "cred building" rigs like a '70s Holdsworth Custom Criterium frame with vintage campy set up and a Voodoo SS MTB set up as an urban trials bike. To be your supporter. Today I was wal...

Coffee stuff and other stuff. Bull;February 26, 2017 • Leave a Comment. So it’s been a couple of months now of doing everything we can to get the word out about Máquina Coffee and trying to get the coffee into reputable hands and shops around the country.
