fringe notes: end of the month
http://cater-woods.blogspot.com/2007/05/end-of-month.html
Sunday, May 27, 2007. End of the month. We're here in lovely Colorado. I've been here a week, doing lecture and workshop for the Front Range Group. Michael flew down yesterday; his family has a reunion today. Tomorrow we drive home. It's been busy and wonderful. A day trip to Boulder, a day trip to Denver and galleries, in between some intense time in the workshop. I learned a lot! It will be a treat to be home for almost a month. Studio time! Hi Laura. Hope you have a happy month in the studio.

fringe notes: snowed in
http://cater-woods.blogspot.com/2007/02/snowed-in.html
Monday, February 12, 2007. 415" h x 14.5" w. Last week i found this fabric in my cupboard and began stitching. No plan, no pre-conceived notions; just stitching out and drawing in a little at a time. It was a cathartic experience. My method with this type of work is to stitch on the whole cloth, then go in with color. It's a circling back to my adventures with paint, paper and canvas: a process that feels like coming home. I like this. Was the sole cloth rusted, painted or dyed? Keep it up, Laura! I just...

http://cater-woods.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 21, 2006. Where did October go? It's been a whirlwind. Early in the month was the Idea to Image retreat at Chico Hot Springs. A small, intense group; great accomodations, wonderful food, no distractions. Then on to Fabrications in Michigan. This was my second year teaching at that Retreat (I'll be there again next year! It was one of the most intense, passionate groups I've worked with. A well organized retreat (Cathy Arnett rocks! Sunday, October 01, 2006. These little things are three...

Thursday, August 17, 2006. The river has changed a lot since my last post. water level has dropped significantly, all sorts of roots and gravel bars are exposed that once were submerged. As summer matures, the water level drops more but, dry as it has been, i don't remember it being this low in recent year. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Full time studio artist, free lance educator. Saturday, September 23, 2006. What has been going on? The week at Cedar Lakes was relaxing. It was a small group and I learned a lot. I came home inspired in an interesting way (more on that in another post). With things calmer on the home front and wet weather, ,I have enjoyed some studio time. these two pieces are finished:. Paperwork of course, the Retreat at Chico Hot Springs (if you can get lodging, there's a space in the workshop), then Fabrications at Garland, MI (full class!

fringe notes: catching up in the studio
http://cater-woods.blogspot.com/2007/01/catching-up-in-studio.html
Sunday, January 21, 2007. Catching up in the studio. In between sorting and pitching and trying to reorganize my work space, I have seen my way back to work. Still working very small, but still working. Meadow fragment 12.5 x 9". Spill 9.25 x 25". A dark little piece. I played with texturing the surface in a number of ways including free form pintucking. The hanging device is cotonwood root. Welcome to the Quilt Studio webring! I look forward to having you join our activities. I'd love to go back,.
