This is a place for me to share pictures and info on my 1955 Allstate (Puch) 175. Tuesday, October 27, 2015. When I saw this old bike for sale I instantly liked the way it looked, it seemed to flow and had balance. I have what was once described as a ' unusual attraction to motorcycles' by a girl I once knew briefly. She said this as she entered my small apartment in a Southern California beach community. See how the carburetor mounts directly to the left side of the cylinder? I still need a frender!

This is a place for me to share pictures and info on my 1955 Allstate (Puch) 175. Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Now that I have learned my way around this little bike the more I like it. The engineering throughout is much better than the Japanese bikes of the stamped steel frame era. I was very lucky as all the case screws came out easy, and other than a little sludge the engine was clean and unmolested. I can't suggest a lift table too much for the motorcycle tech or even a avid tinkerer! I have done this b...

The Dnepr Files from Gadgitman. Wednesday, March 19, 2014. This is what it looks like now. Monday, November 11, 2013. Changing the Final Drive gear ratio. Now that I have some miles piloting a sidecar rig I feel confidant that I can safely go faster. I have installed solo gearing in the final drive to see if the motor can pull that higher speed gearing. First I replaced all the brake shoes and adjusted everything correctly. It works great!
