Tuesday, November 27, 2012. A Few Tweets to Check Out. Posted by Don Snabulus. These tweets are of the American Goldfinch (in winter plumage) variety. I saw them today in my back yard and snuck out to take pictures. Enjoy. Awesome pics. Thanks. I like leaving out seed for birds in hopes of watching them, but Momo doggy just barks at them to scare them off! I know what you mean. Now that our cat is 10 years old, he generally leaves them alone, which is good for the birds. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Snabulus Web Log: Wenatchee Complex Fires
http://snabulus.blogspot.com/2012/09/wenatchee-complex-fires.html
Thursday, September 13, 2012. Posted by Don Snabulus. People tend to think of Portland and Seattle as havens as rain and, for 9 months of the year, they are correct. However, the entire region goes quite dry in July, August, and September. Seattle missed their dry spell record. By 3 days this year and Portland has had just 0.04" since July 20th. By the time it reached central Washington and Chelan County, the moisture was not reaching the ground but the lightning was. In the rain shadow. I would like to ...

Monday, September 30, 2013. Posted by Don Snabulus. I took myself and my bicycle up to the remote village of Stehekin, Washington a week ago. The main purposes were to see some nature and spend some time alone. As far those were concerned, the trip was a resounding success. I spent Saturday and Wednesday at my aunt's house at Wenatchee and the four days in the middle were spent in the Stehekin Valley. On Tuesday, I visited the "tourist spots" including Rainbows Falls (twice! On Wednesday, I woke up early...

Snabulus Web Log: The Invisible Civil War Within: Part I
http://snabulus.blogspot.com/2008/01/invisible-civil-war-within-part-i.html
Sunday, January 27, 2008. The Invisible Civil War Within: Part I. Posted by Don Snabulus. Our/My Internal Battle for the Future. At what level am I self-governing? And what say should I have in my family, my community, my state, my nation, and my world? Where do I decide what is best for me and where does someone else’s or some group’s better judgment start? Is it really better? What if I don’t like it? What if I hate it and would die to stop it? Should I learn to adapt instead? Philosophy is the discipl...

Monday, November 07, 2011. VanBC Day 3: The Play is the Thing. Posted by Don Snabulus. Actually, tourist day was Day 4. Sorry for the confusion.). I am not sure there is a name for the phenomenon, but most working people who are bustling all day, then attending various activities at night for months on end wind up experiencing a singular sensation once the wheels of life pause for a bit. The sensation is fatigue and the response is sleep. For us, this was the day. And their boats are brightly colored (th...

Saturday, December 01, 2012. Ride Before the Storm. Posted by Don Snabulus. Thanks to fairly brisk winds (20 - 30 mph/ 17-26 knots/32-48 kph), it seemed more like 30 miles (48km) after fighting headwinds and lateral winds. Sometimes I felt like the sail on Sweet Bluesette. Here are some pics:. The Oregon Coast range kept us in sunshine for the morning. Stay on the sunny side, always on the sunny side.
