Galavanting in Georgia!

Wednesday, November 16, 2011. It's blog update time! Flicking back over my previous entries it occurs to me that perhaps I haven't spent enough time describing Georgian culture and their traditions, so I'll jump right into it. My principal and his family invited me back for another smaller supra the next day! But every now and then when I managed to spit out something that almost resembled a coherent sentence the room would burst into applause! It's like being on the world's longest footy trip. Galavanting in Georgia!: August 2011

http://galavantingingeorgia.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 23, 2011. First few days in the village. Caitlin was proposed to about a dozen times by a strange drunk man on the marshutka ride from Tbilisi to Orzageti. I liked him though for two reasons: he bought me a beer and opened it with his teeth. I needn't have worried about cold showers in Georgia. It has quickly become apparent that showers full stop will be few and far between. Helped unpack the plates and glasses for the big feast at my host Dad's farm celebrating the opening of duck seaso...

Galavanting in Georgia!: School, village life and assorted randomness

http://galavantingingeorgia.blogspot.com/2011/10/school-village-life-and-assorted.html

Wednesday, October 12, 2011. School, village life and assorted randomness. So it's now mid October and I've been at school for about a month. To say I'm a bit of a celebrity there would be the understatement of the century. Grand Final weekend my family took me the famous wine-making region in eastern Georgia known as Kakheti. We arrived at their friends' house on Friday and I immediately walked into the centre of town to see if I could get an Internet Cafe to open early for the Grand Final. The ...Unfor...

Galavanting in Georgia!: September 2011

http://galavantingingeorgia.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 16, 2011. Ok, so it's been a while since my last update, but better late than never. I have finally started working as of yesterday and so far it has been going well. I'll save all that until next entry though as I already have enough to write about today. As for life on the home front, well, it continues to surprise. A few little anecdotes in no particular order:. On the subject of dogs, I asked my older host brother Nika if he preferred dogs or cats. His answer was that he likes d...

Galavanting Girl Books

Sunday, January 25, 2015. Alex as Well (review). It requires more writing expertise for books to tackle a tough subject. While I admire what Alex As Well. Attempted, portraying a character who was intersex and struggling with her identity and to a lesser extent her sexuality, it just didn't live up to the potential of the topic. There's not much good that I can say about this book. It's just meh all around, which is disappointing because the subject matter could have been really interesting. But sometime...

Galavanting Globally

Thursday, September 13, 2012. Number of countries visited on this trip; 24  . Number countries I've visited in my lifetime; 33 (a lot of people want to know if I count Canada; yes, of course). Number of weekly-ish blogs I've posted; 53 (that's an average of 1.01923076923077 per week; you lucky dogs I've spoiled you). Number of books read; 41 (while not that impressive, if you consider the amount of time not reading do to debauchery and hangovers, it's a god damn miracle). Pounds gained; 20 (ouch). 160;As...
