The Danish Himalayan Society arranged an expedition to the 8068 meter high Gasherbrum I – also known as G1 or Hidden Peak. The succes meant that both Jan and Bo now had summited two 8000 meter peaks having four years earlier summited the nearby Broad Peak (8047 meter). The goal for the expedition was the beautiful mountain Ama Dablam standing pyramide-like in the Everest region. Ama Dablam is known by everyone who has visited the Everest region. Until the Danish Janak Expedition visited the North Eastern corner of Nepal in the autumn 2002 the two peaks, Pandra, 6673 m. and Danga, 6238 m. were unclimbed. Broad Peak situated on the border between Pakistan and the Chinese province Xinjiang is one of them. Sometimes Broad Peak is counted as one of the mountains in the Gasherbrum Group (eg. in the wikipedia for the Gasherbrum Group. But it actually stands it little to the north outside the incredible ring of mountains making up the Gasherbrum Group.
