This piece has grown out of views and shapes I have seen during my drives to Shaftesbury from our village Sixpenny Handley and is part of my current desire to create new 'landscape' work. Sunday, 24 May 2015. This is another working sketch which was produced as a sample for an interior design client who wanted three similar pieces as unframed 4' x 3' relief panels for a new build house in Sandbanks, Dorset. I based the shapes on loosely Patrick Heron's style of work and used the white relief finish of Ben Nicholson and I am glad to say that the client was pleased and I hope soon to have images of the three where they now hang - pending the house owners permission. 165" x 14" x 2.5".

Friday, 24 July 2015. Mood I - in the style of Jackson Pollock - SOLD. This is a working sketch which formed part of a presentation to a commission opportunity for a client who owns a stunning property on Beach Road, Sandbanks. The final canvas measured a whopping 8' x 6' which I am glad to say the client was delighted with despite me having worked on it for three months due to layering the paint and drying time! Various paints on wood board and measures 16.5" x 14" x 2" framed.

Some time ago I was fortunate to view a small exhibition of this artists work and I would recommend to anyone that should the opportunity arise one would not be disappointed. My new piece which can be viewed at the bottom of this feature is based on his work. He was greatly influenced by the early work of Roger Hilton, Alan Reynolds and Keith Vaughan. Monday, 10 August 2015. Ben Nicholson line drawings I and II. As you are well aware the work of Ben Nicholson was a key reason as to why I decided late in life to explore creating my own artwork. These pieces I created in 2012 when I was desperately pushing myself to learn to draw. Based on his 'Landscape with Shapes' work this is ink pen with various paints on heavy card which like Nicholson I undercoated with washes of color before I started on the primary shapes.
