Patch Birding Ireland: Blacksod
http://patchbirdingireland.blogspot.com/p/blacksod.html
The Patchwork Challenge Irish Minileague Blog. Blacksod, The Mullet, Co. Mayo by Dave Suddaby. 8217; I was up for it! So, and with little thought, I decided that I would just ‘stick-the-pin’ in the map, centred on the garden and draw a 1.5km radius around! With a little re-gigging I was then left with a ‘patch’ that consists mainly of rock-strewn Tarmon Hill …. Oh dear, maybe I should have gone ‘long and thin’ with the aim of taking in more habitat? So what have I got to work with? Top of the garden.

Wanstead Birder: July 2015
http://www.wansteadbirder.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Latterly mostly about travel. Friday, 24 July 2015. So what's been going on? Obviously there is never a dull moment at Chateau L, but there's not a lot to tell. This week however has been punctuated by two momentous twitches. Well, one momentous, one semi-pleasing. The first was a Green Sandpiper. On the deck. Although it was my 5th Green Sand. Please tell us it is not so? And if it is, please make sure to release some extra-special waders (or ducks) from your magic satchel before you go! If an instituti...

Patch Birding Ireland: Galley Head
http://patchbirdingireland.blogspot.com/p/galley-head.html
The Patchwork Challenge Irish Minileague Blog. Galley Head, Co. Cork by Colin Barton. Hidden away down in County Cork in south-west Ireland, Galley Head is a grand spot altogether! And Cory’s Shearwaters. In some years. I’ve been lucky enough to see four Fea’s-type Petrel’s. Go by off Galley too, and there really is no better adrenalin rush! God knows what has been missed in there though! Looking down into Dirk - American thrush anyone? And probably best find of all, Black-headed Bunting. Are pretty much...

Patch Birding Ireland: Brownstown Head
http://patchbirdingireland.blogspot.com/p/brownstown-head.html
The Patchwork Challenge Irish Minileague Blog. Brownstown Head, Co. Waterford by Paul M. Walsh. Brownstown Head forms the SE corner of Tramore Bay, in east Co Waterford, and though it doesn’t project as dramatically as some south-coast headlands (notably Hook Head, Co Wexford, 11 km east), it’s certainly produced the goods over the years. Up to the mid 1970s, Brownstown was best known for having produced old records of Sociable Plover. And, I like to think, Great Auk. And some large Sooty. A major dip in...

Wanstead Birder: Update
http://www.wansteadbirder.com/2015/07/update.html
Latterly mostly about travel. Sunday, 5 July 2015. A brief summary of the last month would be:. A quick trip to Poland to find Nutcracker. Geting camera fixed after trip to Poland. Desperate processing of USA photos. Doing not a lot at home. Working like a dog (a sad constant). In connection with the above, being uncomfortably hot on the tube. The birding has been dull of course, and whilst I did manage to sneak out for the long-staying Hudsonian Whimbrel. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 115 - - -.
