gallimauphry musings: The Sparrow
http://gallimauphry.blogspot.com/2011/05/sparrow.html
Saturday, May 14, 2011. By Mary Doria Russell. My rating: 5 of 5 stars. A group of seven explorers, sponsored by the Jesuits, set off on a mission to the planet Rakhat. Think. Russell has created a world of lush beauty and harsh realities, which remains compelling even after I've finished the book. It's taking a bit to shake off her world and return to reality. How do we accept that God leads us in our choices when bad things happen to people that we care about? The book is on my list of must-reads.

Wednesday, July 19, 2006. About 12 years ago, a friend of mine introduced me to the world of paper dolls. I have always been taken with graphic design and I immediately became an afficiando of such artists as Bruce Patrick Jones, Sandra Vanderpool, Susan Sirkis, Donald Hendricks, and Tom Tierney. Since that time I have worked creating my own. To see some of the new works check out the following:. A Gothic Romance told in the style of the Limbourg Brothers: The Little Mermaid. From the Inside...Out: Justifiable Misconduct
http://www.theinternalmakeover.com/2009/01/justifiable-misconduct.html
Wednesday, January 7, 2009. Another wicked-weather day here in the northeast. As if in testament to my death-defying ride home last night, may I present the bush outside my front door:. Delightful. Like a big, ‘ole, yummy pine-flavored snow cone…but minus the triangular-shaped cardboard holder, the carnival rides or the sweltering heat that made you want it in the first place. God, I miss summer. Which brings me (seamlessly, I might add) to an article I’d saved from August 4, 2008. And how did I know.

Monday, March 26, 2012. In the dream, I’m having a cocktail. This is precisely why I am unaware that this is a dream…everything seems perfectly normal. Then I happen to glance at a clock. It reads 1:00…and realization dawns. One o’clock? Like, in the afternoon? Don’t I have a JOB? Oh and a KID. Oh, CRAP…did I leave Connor somewhere? I grab my phone and try to dial but the numbers are all jumbled…and WTF is wrong with this freakin’ phone? Increase the volume. Start off low. 8230;and work our way up. On th...

Sunday, January 29, 2012. Star Light, Star Bright. First star I see tonight…. I wish I may…. I wish I might…. Survive this rough patch and find some time in my life to write. This was the view out my kitchen window at dusk. For those of you professionals (Kimberly, Lynn, Smoog), you can probably tell that I am uber-adept at holding the camera still. Monday, May 5, 2008. Once a Chicken, Always a Chicken? I believe there are two types of people in the world. There are the “planners” and then there are the rest of us. I’ve been noticing a lot of beautiful, multi-colored tulips decorating the lawns I’ve passed to and from town. You know the very first thought I have when I see them? I am obviously NOT a planner. It’s not that I wouldn't like to. I would love to be one of those people who can set the table. So today…in a concerted effort not to wai...
