Moondance is for Sale! Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Visitors from New Mexico - Yeah! Joe and Leah, our long time friends from New Mexico traveled all the way to Fiji to see us - and to play in the water and do some birding - of course! Joe and Leah relaxing and cooling off! We had a great visit with lots of time for exploring and catching up. First thing - we bussed them to the Nadi fruit and vegetable market for supplies (and lots of culture). Snorkeling the Sand Bar. Love these Blue Starfish. So many col...

Moondance is for Sale! Saturday, September 13, 2014. Wild Times at the Musket Cove Regatta! We had a wonderful time at the 31st Annual Musket Cove Regatta. This is our first time at the Regatta, so we weren't sure what to expect but loved it all. Musket Cove Marina - jammed pack. The Musket Cove Marina did an excellent job of accommodating all the Yachties. We heard there were 80 boats involved - anchored, moored, and squished into the marina. Lots of boats coming and going all the time. We joined Jenny ...

Moondance is for Sale! Sunday, August 31, 2014. Futuna Run - Done! And we are glad it is over! Waiting for the next splash! Fiji requires that all foreign boats have to check out of the country every 18 months. For us, that means once a year since we don’t want any long trips during the cyclone season. Walking the streets in Futuna. The closest country to Fiji is the French/Polynesian island of Futuna – about 200 miles northeast of Savusavu where we had to check out. Sunset at Copra Shed Marina. We leave...

Moondance is for Sale! Monday, July 20, 2015. Pictures of Fulaga - Finally! We had a great overnight sail from Fulaga to Taveuni. 15 - 20 knots of winds, calm seas, no rain, and a gazillion stars to guide us. Of course, we were really suppose to go to Koro Island, but the winds weren't in our favor. Plus, we had our friends Karen and Cheryl on s/v Interlude waiting for us at Paradise at the southern end of Taveuni. We were OK with the change of plans. Now, we are moored in front of the Copra Shed Marina ...

The elusive Doug Fish. We were invited to join in a tour of the Walt Smith. Facility here in Fiji and you know us, we can't resist a field trip! Did we find Nemo? The facility is in Lautoka on the island of Viti Levu and they farm and ship reef fish and coral to aquariums all over the world. Pretty bowl of fish. So think about t...

Moondance is for Sale! Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Cyclone Season in Fiji. Well, we are over half way thru the cyclone season and we haven't had any big storms yet - YEAH! It has been hot and humid - especially on land. On the boat, we almost always have a nice breeze and stay cooler. But, the first of February, the weather started changing and made us start paying a little more attention. Three lows starting forming around us - North, East, and West, plus the thunderstorms started moving in. Oh my!

Following Moondance: Still in Savusavu...
http://followingmoondance.blogspot.com/2015/08/still-in-savusavu.html
Moondance is for Sale! Sunday, August 2, 2015. Along with a lot of other Yachties! Moored off the Copra Shed Marina. I know, we have been here two weeks already, but the weather is still crazy. There has been high wind warnings, fronts, troughs, lows, all kinds of fun stuff coming thru Fiji this year. Making a rain catcher. Captain Doug is tired of looking at the daily weather reports! But, at least Savusavu is a good place to be stuck. So, we have been very social! Row row row your boat! Hooked a big one.
