Ciara & Laurent. Mike and Rob McDonagh. My Bike, My Story. Kelly Coate, Lecturer, National University of Ireland, Galway. I became a cycle commuter in London over a decade ago and have been on a bike nearly every day since then. We came to Galway in 2007 when I was offered my current job in NUIG, and it didn’t take long to realise the bike is the best way to get around the city. This post is also available in: Irish. Ciara & Laurent. Mike and Rob McDonagh. My Bike, My Story. Adédòtun Adékéyè, from Nigeria, living in Galway since April 2008. I really love cycling. It is one of the few means of transportation whereby you can speed without incurring a fine, you can park without being clamped, there’s no road tax, no NCT, no insurance, and no environmental pollution. The problems in the global economy that affect the price of petroleum do not even affect your transport costs! This post is also available in: Irish.

Ciara & Laurent. Mike and Rob McDonagh. My Bike, My Story. David Collins, Galway Senior Intercounty Hurler:. After suffering a career-threatening injury to my ankle, and 13 months of rehab, cycling was my saviour. With no heavy impact on any joints it was the best form of rehab, building up calf and leg strength to what they were before. Having 20% ankle movement, cycling eventually got it back to 50% and from there it was back to the field. This post is also available in: Irish. Follow and Support us.

Making sense of all this isn’t easy and often can be quite overwhelming and disempowering, especially if you’re six years of age. The school, in short, is a vibrant and happy place to be.
