The Persistent Illusionist: March 2010
http://persistentillusionist.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one" - Albert Einstein. Friday, 19 March 2010. As I said in my introduction to my interview with David J. Williams (game writer and novelist), I've become fascinated by storytelling through the medium of computer games. Unsurprisingly, being an MMO junkie, I want above all to look at the state of storytelling in MMOs, which present tremendous obstacles for writers, but also really exciting possibilities. Laquo; Oliko jotain asiaa? Torstai, 17. tammikuu, 2008. Tässä ne nyt ovat: The Final Five! Sekä suuresti riehaannuttavan että analyyttisen viileän faniuteni kohde, Battlestar Galactica. On kohta taas ruudussa. Sitä odotellessa törmäsin aivan mahtavaan herkkuun: University of Texas, Austinin julkaisemaan kriittisesti mediaa käsittelevään webbiforumiin, FlowTV:hen, jolla on ylevä tavoite tarkastella ”nykyisen mediamaiseman muutoksia sillä nopeudella, millä media itsessään toimii”. Laquo; Onko tää päällä? Bitcrossing, Codeform, Gingerstream…. Ja niin vietiin Wiitä. Lauantai, 26. tammikuu, 2008. Kollegani ja ystäväni David Nieborg. Kirjoitti eilen hauskalla tavalla itsereflektiivisen jutun pelijournalismista. Erityisesti ns. valtamediassa julkaistuista pelijutuista. Originellista artikkelista tuli niin kiinnostava, että kohta Davidia vietiin. Juttua referoitiin radiossa, isossa kansallisessa sanomalehdessa, televisiossakin. Lähdettä mainitsematta, tietenkin, mutta niinhän me...Joku ...

The Persistent Illusionist: What's the Story?
http://persistentillusionist.blogspot.com/2009/04/whats-story.html
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one" - Albert Einstein. Wednesday, 15 April 2009. At this year's GDC, Jeff Kaplan of Blizzard talked about quest design, outlining nine problems with quests in WoW. Lum picked it up at Broken Toys. Which is where I saw it first, though it's all over everywhere now), and now Timothy Burke has posted an interesting response at Terra Nova. Which has prompted me to post my own thoughts on the subject. 1 The Christmas Tree Effect. 2 Too Long, Didn't Read.

The Persistent Illusionist: May 2010
http://persistentillusionist.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one" - Albert Einstein. Saturday, 1 May 2010. Games and Stories - in which, in a roundabout way, I try to tell you wat I'm talkin' 'bout. While I talk and the flies buzz. A seagull catches a fish at the mouth of the Amazon,. A tree falls in the Adirondack wilderness,. A man sneezes in Germany,. A horse dies in Tattany,. And twins are born in France. What does that mean? Of these events with one another,. And with a million others as disjointed,.

Post-mortem: Storydeck | Ada Play
https://adaplay.wordpress.com/2012/03/07/post-mortem-storydeck
Game studies, narrative theory, and humanities today. Monday, Storydeck: Ella. Launched, a game project I’ve been involved in for awhile now. It’s a bit early for a post-mortem, but I need to parse and share some of the lessons I’ve learned through this project. It began about 18 months ago when I met up with my collaborator Ian Millington. 1 Making a game to understand my own work. How do I write it up? How do I use it to communicate something when I can’t make them play it the way I can make them read ...

Rosepond: PaulandIandAndrew,
http://itsnotaboutewe.blogspot.com/2009/04/paulandiandandrew.html
Tuesday, April 28, 2009. About 1/2 of the garden has been prepared, the rest lies under the grass. The lines have been moved several times as backs and knees have yelled to us, Enough is Enough. I have moved sod to cover an area in the backyard that has never had grass since we have lived here, over 25 years. Maybe there is a reason.we do live close the Oak Ridge. Andrew is a good son. 9:34 AM, May 12, 2009. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Family and Friends Blogs.
