I was inspired to draw her while watching the first episode, and though I grew somewhat weary of the manic comedy style of the series overall, something about Ryuko’s heroic drive captured my attention. For my brother-in-law’s 40th birthday, his wife hired me to do an art piece for him, but left the concept up to me. Because the birthday boy is a huge fan of fast cars and the 80’s television show. It was’t difficult to arrive at the idea of doing a semi-cartoon version of him in the Ferrari. The finished piece was a framed 21″ x 17″ poster with dozens of anecdotes from Mike’s friends and family arranged around the drawing. He loved it. All text and artwork. Designed by Elegant Themes.

I’m an artist, illustrator and graphic designer. I began drawing as a child and trained in a variety of styles and disciplines, from life drawing to sculpture, throughout secondary school. With the rise of the Web in the nineties, I fell under the spell of New Media and detoured into a web design career for over a decade before returning to artistic pursuits in the early 2010’s.
