Monday, January 16, 2012. The Wall Bangers, or What Comes After. Then well, I honestly don't know WHAT is after, but those people go. And we who still beat against the door think about them and feel a little chill, an emptiness, as we remember them doing what they did in ordinary life. What IS the point of the way they made scrambled eggs, with a little flick of the wrist, now that they are gone from us? And we think about OUR eventual slumping down and the little song we'll hum. I resolve to reply "I am forbidden by a personal protocol from talking about that subject! With this kind of chill people keep off the streets most of the time, anyway, so I doubt I'll be running into anyone much. It's a sort of ghost town out there and it's been that way for months.
