Gap Year for Eating: January 2012
http://gapyearforeating.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Gap Year for Eating. One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Yes, I only ever seem to blog about Habitat and Crisis, but they are inevitably the highlight of my year! We had proper proper food to cook with, and this made it a lot easier (although I guess I secretly missed the challenge of taking apart 50 airplane meals to make it into something palatable). Case in point was when I...

Gap Year for Eating. One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Return of the refried bean. I worked with Habitat in Guatemala back in 2005, and it was the first time I went anywhere really "exotic"! We went out several times during our stay, and ate at some varied places including the local pizza joint and a Mexican place. However, it was the local place doing traditional local ...

I'm notoriously bad at keeping up this blog, but my trip to Cuba was probably one of the most amazing in a long long time, it moved me to write! And wants to be a sound engineer in TV production. Gap Year for Eating. One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. Sunday, January 2, 2011. In the kitchen, we were extremely relaxed in the first two days, mainly because the kitchen was huge in comparison to what we were used to, and everything seemed to work! Also making 60 portions as opposed to 120 portions makes a big difference. Here was our bread and butter pudding effort from the first night:. This was p...

Heaven in a Wild Flower: January 2011

Heaven in a Wild Flower. January 31, 2011. Pandan Chiffon Cake - Food for Angels and Babes. For the longest time, I've been trying to perfect a decent rendition of a pandan chiffon cake. A chiffon cake is akin to angel's food cake, except it also has egg yolks to make the taste a little richer, but uses oil instead of butter to maintain that soft spongey texture. Pandan chiffon cake is common in Singapore and Malaysia, sold in most bakeries and eaten commonly as teatime snacks. Makes a 23cm/9inch cake).

Gapyeargal's Weblog | Just another WordPress.com weblog
Just another WordPress.com weblog. August 30, 2010. I actually really enjoyed the Emmy awards last night, and ended up watching most of them. By far, my favorite part was the opening (anyone who knows me knows my newfound love of Glee). Just hilarious. Tina Fey can do no wrong. Except when she’s getting dressed, to be honest. Actually she looked pretty good this year, though I wasn’t stunned or anything. These are all quality programs. No, nothing with JLo in it, unfortunate though that is. I swear, ...
