The Armchair gardener

Monday, 25 April 2011. Managed a lot in a week! Thanks to this good weather and a lot of help from the OH I've got a lot done in a week! The newly weeded left hand border is a perfect site for hardy annuals. I've sown Cornflowers, Poppy 'Ooh la la' (double flowers in all colours), california poppies for the front of the border (Lidl seeds, fingers crossed), Calendula, Godetia and a few candytuft. Something's coming up already! He helped us load the car up and gave us some advice about sowing veg in our f...

The Armchair gardener: A tidying up day

http://gardeninginsuburbia.blogspot.com/2011/04/tidying-up-day.html

Sunday, 17 April 2011. A tidying up day. You know I said I had an out of use greenhouse? I swear you have better results from a greenhouse like that. I don't know why, you just do! So we have a useable greenhouse now and hardly any seedlings to nurse in this cosy environment. It's Lidl's fault for putting their cheap seeds next to the tills to lure me. 30p a packet is fine if they grow! Note the way I blame Lidl entirely and not my abilities as a gardener! I weeded yesterday, it had to be done, a horribl...

http://gardeninginsuburbia.blogspot.com/2011/04/bust-greenhouse-and-contingency.html

The greenhouse has served me well the past few years, but this year I haven't been using it as a few of the plastic pains were blown in by wind. Instead I have seed trays on windowsills inside and I cannot wait to get rid of them, messy things! The plants are slow to come up too. Remind me not to buy Lidl's 30p packets of seeds, they are hit and miss and I don't have much to show for my efforts! 2 weeks later and nothing! I fear I have failed o...

The Armchair gardener: To introduce myself........

http://gardeninginsuburbia.blogspot.com/2011/04/to-introduce-myself.html

Tuesday, 12 April 2011. I am 38 years old, married and a mum of two. I have a largish rectangular garden much in need of improvement, there are various eyesores and 'niggles' about the place but that doesn't stop me trying to disguise the fact with blousy dahlia's! About 11 years ago, about the time my husband and I got our first home I saw a magazine advertised on the television- one of those 'free binder with part one' offerings. It was 'Ground Force' Mag. Remember that programme? But I am getting bett...

MontedasOliveiras-Gardening in Portugal | A garden adventure in the Algarve

A garden adventure in the Algarve. The Kitschen Garden Shed (all puns intended). My lime green planter chairs, upcycled denim cushions and foam flowers. Another built the most exquisite Chinese tea pagoda in a garden in Sussex or somewhere, complete with a little bridge over a koi carp pond. So it set me thinking about what my entry would be and what kind of shed could you have which was different from all the wonderful sheds entered for the competition. The nascent kitschen shed.
