Gardening in Western Canada: A Dry spring in Central Alberta
http://gardeninginwesterncanada.blogspot.com/2009/07/dry-spring-in-central-alberta.html
Monday, July 13, 2009. A Dry spring in Central Alberta. We had a mild winter of 2008/09. Not alot of Snow fell or accumulated during the winter. Farmers seeded crops to early from what I see now in July. and this past week we actually had some 2 inches of rain. that gave us our first decent batch of radishes. Also it looks like the weeds have come to give us grief as usual. does anyone know whats the best time to attack thistle? Maybe we can grow them for food value? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Taking advantage of the mild local climate, this year I decided to protect my garden from the frost. In previous years I’d let the plants fend for themselves. I love using this very versatile plant along my garden paths and in the seating areas, where butterflies can collect on this long-blooming flower. Although low-growing varieties are available, the most common veronicas form attractive 30cm to 90cm tall mounds. Narrow spikes of tiny flowers adorn the plant in midsummer and are superb in bouquets. As a chil...
