gardening with turtles: "What the, what the......?" Part One and Part Two

https://gardeningwithturtles.blogspot.com/2013/04/what-what-part-one-and-part-two.html

Saturday, April 20, 2013. What the, what the? Part One and Part Two. Most of this post was written last July. I thought I had already posted it which is why the title is listed as Part One and Part Two.). Earlier today I found Cathy Jean stuck upright on her hind legs, one of her front legs stuck in a shrub. What the? Well, sort of. One thing stops, another thing starts. And for some reason whoever did this, left part of a rib bone planted in one of the six-packs.which looked. Rie says it sounds like rac...

gardening with turtles: October 2011

https://gardeningwithturtles.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 18, 2011. I don't know why but when the surprise lilies bloom, I always think of fall.even though it's been two months since they've bloomed and gone underground again. I think of fall when the jack in the pulpit berries become vivid red. And even when they're still green because the green ones fall over too. I think of fall when dogs get covered with seeds. And when the soldier beetles get busy with each other on the goldenrod flowers. But fall happens when the leaves fall. View my comp...

gardening with turtles: January 2012

https://gardeningwithturtles.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 27, 2012. Last month an old beat up car drove up my driveway and the driver, an old Asian man, yelled that question to me.many, many times. I had never seen him before. I was sure I hadn't. You gave me beer. You gave me cake.". Well, that sounded like something I would do.but I was pretty sure I had never met him before. But maybe I met him at the barbecue Aussie's family had earlier in the year so I asked him if that was where we met. Now it was his turn to look bewildered. He enthusiast...

gardening with turtles: May 2011

https://gardeningwithturtles.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 9, 2011. Miami County Kansas Farm Crawl. That's what I did on Saturday. There were twelve farms to visit and one of my first stops was an emu ranch. Those emu girls paced in pairs up and down their muddy routes but would they pose for a picture? No They were too good at turning the other direction. I tried. Oh, I tried to get a good photo.but it was not going to happen. Sleeping baby emus were a lot easier to photograph. My next stop was an alpaca ranch and did they want to be photographed?

gardening with turtles: September 2011

https://gardeningwithturtles.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 13, 2011. I was at the Anita Gorman Discovery Center earlier this summer and saw these flowers blooming in the woodland garden. I knew immediately what they were because I recognized.the leaves. Sometimes I am so good! It's thimbleweed ( Anemone virginiana. A native wildflower named for the "fruit" which sort of resemble thimbles (big emphasis on "sort of"). They were growing at the edge of the woods. By the creek in the sun. They were lining a path deep in the woods (in clumps! Heck n...

A Romantic Deer Garden? | Mosaic Gardens Journal

News, photos and inspiration. A Romantic Deer Garden? July 19, 2011. 8212; Rebecca Sams from Mosaic Gardens @ 3:58 pm. Basalt paths frame a Vietnamese urn in Joy's front garden. The side garden is shadier, but still produces sweeps of soft color. Another view of the side garden. As the small trees we planted in the courtyard have grown, we've amended the plantings to tolerate more shade. The hillside along the driveway was our most recent planting (Can you tell Joy loves Alliums? July 19, 2011 at 4:10 pm.

Archetypal Angels: April 2009

http://archetypalangels.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 30, 2009. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. After a few more experiments, and giving into the urge to just go ahead a paint an angel, I arrived at this smooth, matte, non-speckled surface. I was back to the original two color sections with a thin third color edge that I had used nearly ten years ago when this Archetypal Angels series began. Next post, a big breakthrough; or at least that's the way I see it. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Monday, April 27, 2009. Sunday, April 26, 2009. Although I didn'...
