The Garden Moth Challenge: June 2014

http://www.gardenmothchallenge.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

The Garden Moth Challenge. Sunday, 29 June 2014. My mistake, garden total 277 for the GMC! June continues to be very good for moths, and especially for the micros. Epinotia bilunana was a first for Portland, and Pammene fasciana, a second. Ethmia dodecea, although becoming more common on Portland, was a first for the Garden and a nice little moth. Spatalistis bifasciana was a second for the garden. Garden totals so far: 227. Monday, 23 June 2014. New and early moths in Beds. Record. Our 200. June) The bu...

The Garden Moth Challenge: Those lovely moths of autumn

http://www.gardenmothchallenge.blogspot.com/2014/09/those-lovely-moths-of-autumn.html

The Garden Moth Challenge. Sunday, 28 September 2014. Those lovely moths of autumn. Although there's always a tinge of regret when June, July and early August have gone and the chances of those special migrant species declines, one compensation is the arrival of those lovely moths of autumn. These are a few of the recent visitors to my garden trap taking my total for the year to 444 (434 moths 10 butterflies). 28 September 2014 at 07:36. The Garden Moth Challenge. Friday, 25 July 2014. After playing away from home last week down in Dorset, I've been back to home trapping and have a few more species to add to my garden list, although I can see my garden is still seriously lagging behind this year. 155 Small Fan-footed Wave. 174 Shuttle Shaped Dart. 176 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing. 186 Common Rustic agg. Nice to see some of the stuff I've seen elsewhere much earlier in the year finally making it over the fence :). In spite of no...

http://www.gardenmothchallenge.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

The Garden Moth Challenge. Monday, 26 May 2014. On 23rd May, which is not a very common species. There isn't space for more than a sample of what we've seen over the last fortnight, but I've posted a few below. All told we're now up to 124 species on the challenge: 116 moths and eight butterflies. Figure of Eighty, 18/5/14 (another lifer! Iron Prominent, 23/5/14. Peach Blossom, 17/5/14. Puss Moth, 18/5/14. Scorched Wing, 21/5/14. Friday, 23 May 2014. Which is the 7. Our butterfly total is lagging at the ...

Garden Moths, 1999 to 2013

Garden Moths, 1999 to 2013. A record of my fifteen year long moth trapping career in my Thanet garden, with photos where possible. Wednesday, 23 April 2014. Phil's Garden Moths 1999 - 2015 . an introduction. It looks just about okay to my eye . but as I say 'just about' . Nowadays, a full decade and half later on, I just can't imagine my life without a moth trap . or two … or three …. And now for the gut wrenchingly cringeworthy bit . egghh. And once again, who in their right mind can argue with him?
