A Lost City - in Wicklow? So how did all this rock get to the Boyne Valley? As previously mentioned, Wicklow has received only a modicum of archaeological study. But the whole county is studded with ancient standing stones and prehistoric mounds, from the Neolithic Stone Age - over 3,500 years ago, and much older. But where could this ancient city be? One thing is for certain: whoever finds or identifies this site will be granted instantaneous fame.

Notes and Photos - Mostly from Rural Ontario - Occasionally from Travels Beyond. Saturday, December 28, 2013. Below is a photo from near our east pond pointing back toward the house. No house can be seen through all the ice and snow covered trees and shrubs. It gives a nice feel for what some of our trail look like in winter. Tuesday, December 24, 2013. And I did get some interesting photos after the storm. Here's one:. Saturday, December 21, 2013. Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Deer Beds and Blue Jays.

Notes and Photos - Mostly from Rural Ontario - Occasionally from Travels Beyond. Saturday, August 30, 2014. Food, Glorious Food. Somehow, I just can’t stick to recipes; so, if you want to try this one that I am in the process of baking as I write this, feel free to make your own substitutions. I got the original from a friend, Sandy Dick, many years ago and have used it for every backpacking and canoe trip for over 20 years since then in some form or another. 1 cup currants (or more raisins). 188; cup oil.

Notes and Photos - Mostly from Rural Ontario - Occasionally from Travels Beyond. Thursday, October 30, 2014. October 29 - Tree Clean-up. I did find, during the day, that the machete was much better than the larger heavier axe for about 95% of the cuts I wanted to make. I used the axe only about 3% of the time and them my little hand limb saw for the remaining 2% of the cuts. The chain saw cuts will come later when there is someone else around. Thursday, October 23, 2014. Ham and Swiss Pie (Kind of).

Today was also a day of sleeping bees. I counted over a dozen sleeping bees on goldenrod flowers during the morning. There were also a couple on asters too. We saw two v...
