The Garden of My Heart. Dispatches from a life with Down syndrome. Posted June 26, 2013 by Garden of My Heart in Down syndrome. Blog hopping this week! Check out everyone’s favorite summer time memories and traditions on the Down Syndrome Blogs Blog Hop. So what do I love about summer, and what do I hope to share with Rowenna? It’s the light we get in summer. The cheerful morning sun, the hazy heat of the afternoon, the endless pink-and-orange sunsets. Long patches of sunlight that move laz...It’s ...

The Garden of My Heart. Dispatches from a life with Down syndrome. Laquo; Mother’s Day. Posted May 24, 2013 by Garden of My Heart in Down syndrome. Today was Rowenna’s last day of Montessori preschool. For the end of the year program, parents joined their children in a circle as they sang their favorite songs with their teacher. The children either sat on carpet squares or on their parents’ laps in the circle, singing and performing hand actions. About Rowenna, and in those quizzical glances I could see ...

The Garden of My Heart. Dispatches from a life with Down syndrome. Posted June 13, 2013 by Garden of My Heart in Uncategorized. Our wonderful cat Jax is missing. He’s been part of our family for over 7 years, very much a fixture in our daily lives. Jax has always been a special cat – always purring and licking us, content to just be. It was love from the start. Yes, Jax is riding in her baby carriage. But he is just…gone. And while watching my sweet girl miss her cat is breaking my heart, I am bracing my...

The Garden of My Heart. Dispatches from a life with Down syndrome. Posted June 1, 2013 by Garden of My Heart in Down syndrome. Rowenna is three today. When she was born and we were swept up into a world we never dreamed we would be part of, all the appointments and therapy and what ifs, it seemed like three was so far away. Three, with its built in transition from early intervention to public school. Finally she rounded the corner one last time and squatted in front of the man, though kept her distance&#...

The Garden of My Heart. Dispatches from a life with Down syndrome. Laquo; The Line. Posted May 29, 2013 by Garden of My Heart in Down syndrome. I’ve lost another baby. That’s the third I’ve lost, the third in a row, and my fourth pregnancy. Lost before we knew boy or girl or had much time to dream about who might be joining the family. There’s not much to say at this point, though this third loss magically opens a door to all kinds of testing and lab work and interventions should we choose it. And when i...

Sugar, Salt and Spice. The things my life … and sometimes my plate… are made of. An open letter to my BFF. August 28, 2012. My ‘best friend since sixth grade’ has recently gone through what I would consider my worst nightmare. We’re only in our early forties. Too young for her to have had to endure the things she has. You know who you are. During one of our recent conversations when I mentioned that you’re still my best friend you said, “Really? Even with everyone you have there? If Blogs had a “li...

Sugar, Salt and Spice. The things my life … and sometimes my plate… are made of. August 14, 2012. Okay, so WANTING to write a blog and having tons of entries already in my head obviously means absolutely doodly squat when two littlies are constantly vying for your attention. (Not to mention the enormous mound of laundry so artfully placed (eh-hem) on the couch in the family room that continally calls my name.). I’m there now. There are so many sugar free recipes (some with sugar alternatives li...Banana ...

Garden of My Heart
Garden of My Heart. Taking up my spade and breaking ground. August 31, 2016. And so, here we are. The evening before one of childhood’s greatest milestones: the first day of kindergarten. It feels a bit anti-climatic after 4 years of school. I’ve processed leaving my child in the care of others, the total fear of putting a non-verbal child on a bus. We’ve done IEPs, communication notebooks, meetings, […]. Comments { 0 }. March 2, 2016. Comments { 1 }. January 8, 2016. Comments { 12 }. December 31, 2015.

From My Heart to Yours…Encouragement and Inspiration. Go Get It…. Embrace it. Grab hold of it. Take it for all it’s worth. Asked God in 1 Samuel 30:8, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them? 8221; And the Lord answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”. God’s encouragement in this verse to David and to us today is to…. Go ahead. Set your mind. Do It. Embrace today and make the most of it! Love and Blessings, Kulia. Moments Like these…. This entry w...

Skip to main content. Welkom bij Garden of Narnia. Wij zijn een kleine opvang voor oudere honden die door omstandigheden niet meer bij hun baasje kunnen blijven.
