Summer gardening - so much good stuff! I went down to the Community Garden (The Crib) yesterday, and look what I came home with! I think membership definitely has it's priveledges! Also a bit battered by the heat, but still produced well. April 6, 2011 at 9:13 AM. You write a lovely blog. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Garden of Plenty. One families adventures in feeding themselves, growing a food forest, gardening organically, and having a great life! Friday, April 8, 2011. Long time no post! I know it is over a year since my last post, shame on me, but I have decided to start posting here again, maybe once a week will be a good aim to start with. Finding the time to actually get down there and help is the big challenge, as my home garden really needs my attention badly! The chooks are still here, although not lay...

Yesterday I picked our first meals worth of beans- woo hoo! Got about 230 grams of delicious Rattlesnake beans, they are growing up this teepee, one side seems to be doing better than the other, no idea why. I collected a basket of goodies - potatoes, silverbeet, beetroot, radish, lettuce and, yes, more beans!

Determining the time to sow seeds of vegetable and flower transplants requires a little figuring. For the great majority of transplant flowers and vegetables, a six to eight week period from the time of seed. Sowing until the time the plant is set out in the garden. Is about right in figuring correct timing for these transplant crops. Some flowers and vegetables require a somewhat longer period since they grow more slowly than others. These include celery, pansies, salvia, lobelia and others.

Thursday, November 24, 2011. As I look out at the gardens with their brown blanket, I realize like every other cycle of life there is a resting period. A time to rejuvenate and to wait for rebirth. I have another month or so before the gardening catalogs show up in my mailbox and it is time to decorate the inside of my home for the holidays. These are my most precious memories of time spent with family and traditions. To you and yours, I wish you a very warm and glowing Holiday Season. Better Get On It!

Gardening Projects, Plants and Landscaping Ideas. This site combines gardening, landscaping and creative uses for the harvest with a little Midwestern humor. Getting there . . . May 8, 2016. As you can tell from my previous post, Mother Nature has been keeping all of the gardeners in Southwest Wisconsin guessing. Strawberry and raspberry plants waiting to be put in. Green Pepper and Tomato seedlings. Mack and Rascal are always with me when I’m working in the yard. The knock-out roses I had there last yea...

My garden plot blog to chronicle the vagaries of my own little acre and the stuff I love. Monday, November 19, 2007. Tree and shrub planting. My order from Oikos Tree Crops. In the yard. I also added a hybrid American Chestnut and an American Mountain Ash out in the yard. The American currants and spicebush went in my erstwhile herb garden until I can find the right spot. Posted by Keena @ 1:26 PM. Thursday, October 04, 2007. So many cool fuchsias over there. Posted by Keena @ 10:55 AM. Of July Excursion...
