The Christmas Linden | gardens50plus

https://gardens50plus.wordpress.com/2016/12/23/the-christmas-linden

December 23, 2016. Yesterday I stayed back late at work to apply entomopathogenic nematodes (ENs) to one of our lawns. The Linden was absolutely buzzing with life and looked beautiful in the evening light with moths and butterflies erupting and resettling all over it. On close inspection I saw butterflies, moths. bees, flies, hoverflies and beetles all attending to the flowers. The flowers have an elusive scent in this garden, beautiful but faint. Painted Lady among Linden flowers. Enter your comment here.

Success with a Stubborn Wisteria – James Todman

https://jamestodman.wordpress.com/2016/05/28/success-with-a-stubborn-wisteria

Success with a Stubborn Wisteria. 28 May, 2016. 29 May, 2016. Nothing more satisfying as a gardener than having success with a plant that is being awkward. These two wisteria had stopped flowering and the owner was contemplating cutting them down. Thankfully this spring we have been treated to a magnificent display. Now the challenge is to keep the flowering this spectacular next year and not put it down to this being a very good year for wisterias. Planted a new beech hedge. A Good Month for Tulips.

Planted a new beech hedge – James Todman

https://jamestodman.wordpress.com/2016/04/08/planted-a-new-beech-hedge

Planted a new beech hedge. 8 April, 2016. 8 April, 2016. Planted a new beech hedge. Used 2 year old, bare root beech (Fagus Sylvatica). Bought it from a small nursery in Wales and was really impressed with the quality. Lots of of lovely, undamaged roots, which should give the beech a good chance of establishing quickly. I worked the soil for sometime before planting the beech, removing as many stones as possible. So hopefully there is enough soil structure there for the beech to establish. Root growth on...
