Our History — Garfield-Clarendon Model Railroad Club

Since our founding in 1947, we have been busy building HO scale model railroad layouts for the enjoyment of our members and the public. To build and run a true to life model railroad that educates the public and our members on the history and operations of railroads. We provide a setting suited for sharing ideas and techniques in this hobby that helps grow awareness and interest in the community for all things model railroading. Construction began in 1974. Approximately 1,400 feet of hand-laid track.

It takes over 25 minutes at scale speed to make a complete loop around the layout. Our track plan provides all the components to simulate a real railroad. Let's explore the track plan in detail going westbound from Williamsport. After trains clear Summit, they navigate a long stretch of mainline railroading until pulling into the West end of Georgetown. Georgetown (GT) serves as GC's major freight and passenger terminal. Our layout accurately simulates complications of running a real railroad in a fun environment. Operating sessions typically occur the last Friday of the month at 7pm. A session usually lasts two hours and is always open to the public.
