A series of images were made using a toy camera that leaks light to retrace the route of a nineteen year-old infantryman during the Normandy campaign of 1944. All that remains of John Gaffney is his unusual metal-faced watch, that recorded the time during his first two weeks in a foreign land and the last fortnight of his life. Name, Rank and Serial Number gained an Honorable Mention at the Lucies / International Photography Awards in Los Angeles, in 2006.
