Gary's Birding Blog: August 2014
http://garybirder.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, 30 August 2014. Norfolk Tick - Corncrake. Lucky, Jammy, Good Fortune or awesome skills (unlikely) or all of them. Either way I jammed in on a Corncrake today and in Norfolk! I started birding late due to work, fancied seeing the Greenish at Winterton but also having a look for my own stuff to. I headed to Horsey Gap and thought I would walk through the dunes to see what I could find. Wheatears were plentiful and a few Meadow Pipits. Terns and a few Skua's were passing by on the sea. It was now ...
Gary's Birding Blog: June 2015
http://garybirder.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, 20 June 2015. Down on the patch again, New moth, Plus Hummingbird Hawkmoth. First thing this morning I looked out of the window and to my delight I could see a Hummingbird Hawkmoth on the Valerian outside, it hung about long enough to get this. This is the 4th sighting in the last few weeks I guess it must be different moths each time but it is the first time in the 8 years we have lived here that I have seen them. So I stuck to birds and any other wildlife I could find on the patch. Saw a few ...

http://garybirder.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, 25 October 2014. Patch and Surf Scoter. Friday 25th Oct I got to Trimingham at around dawn, a few Goldcrest were in the cliff top wood, and a notable increase of Robin numbers were around. Walking around the loop and the Church I added Bullfinch (my first in Trimingham for a while) and a couple of Chiffchaff,. A Red Kite flew over the road. Walking the cliffs a flock of 16 Skylark came in off the sea and 3 Yellowhammers shortly after. Scanning the fields a Short-eared Owl flew through. After Ho...
Gary's Birding Blog: Getting up at 5am does make a difference
http://garybirder.blogspot.com/2015/06/getting-up-at-5am-does-make-difference.html
Tuesday, 9 June 2015. Getting up at 5am does make a difference. Last night I found the young owls once again that I had seen last week ( I actually found two extra sets elsewhere also). So as the light is terrible in the deep dark woods in the evening I thought would go early doors to see what I could get. I covered two sections of my patch walking from Bacton Woods through to Ebridge. The baby owls were still in the same spot but the light still wasn't that great, so I walked on. This Bee gave me a wave.
Gary's Birding Blog: Moltoni's Subalpine Warbler
http://garybirder.blogspot.com/2015/05/moltonis-subalpine-warbler.html
Monday, 11 May 2015. An extended lunch (well extended to the end of the day) allowed me to go see the Moltoni's Subalpine Warbler. I had no suitable shoes so wellies were the best choice, done the 3.25 miles in around 50mins but at a cost getting a massive blister, but never mind, all worth it.
