The City of Ember. Has been writing since a young age when he realized he could be writing instead of paying attention in school. Since then, he has created many worlds in which to live his fantasies and live out his dreams. You can find out more at Jamieson Wolf's website. It is a fascinating story: In the City of Ember. It is always night. Light comes from the bulbs that fill the underground city with an amber glow. It's also a damn great story! Read more at the City of Ember wikipedia page. Literature...
Gary Smailes : Were shield walls the best option?
http://garysmailes.typepad.com/gary_smailes/2008/04/were-shield-wal.html
Laquo; Digital Penguins and history e-books. Field of Glory ». April 21, 2008. Were shield walls the best option? I am currently re-reading The Conquest of Gaul by Caesar. Well, I am actually listening to it on audio but lets not get pedantic. I came across this section where Caesar is talking about driving Ariovistus. THE CONQUEST OF GAUL, II, 2. This account is from a battle in 57 B.C. and clearly describes a shield wall formation and this got me thinking. Wiki article offers a bit more of an insight.

Gary Smailes : Going Digital
http://garysmailes.typepad.com/gary_smailes/2008/04/going-digital.html
Laquo; Northern Eye Books. Why visit a publisher's website? April 09, 2008. My wife recently made available a novella she had written to support her first novel as a free download. The idea was to drum up support for In Search of Adam. And raise some money for charity - which it did. The idea of giving away free e-book versions of in-print books is not a new thing and a number of big publishers have recently been experimenting. The question is does a free e-book impact on the sales of the real book?

May 04, 2008. William the Bastard at War again. Post I discussed the events leading up to the Battle of Hastings 1066. William landed unopposed, established two Motte and Bailey castles and then set about ravaging the surrounding countryside. Harold marched south and the Battle of Hastings occurred on the road to London. I am in the process of reading Stephen Morillo's Warfare under the Anglo-Norman Kings 1066-1135. Intimidate enemy strongholds into surrender,. Reduce the enemy's capacity to make war,.

http://mediterraneanwar.blogspot.com/2008/10/review-of-secondary-sources-for-italian.html
War in the Mediterranean. A Blog for the Mediterranean and North African Campaigns during World War Two. Saturday, October 18, 2008. Review of secondary sources for the Italian Campaign. Even books about the Italian campaign itself seem to have this predisposition. For example, the acclaimed Tug of War [2]. Whilst the crossing of the Sangro is condensed to a little over a paragraph [6]. By Eric Linklater is of a similar vein but much more balanced as far as time scales are concerned although. However...
