Whether you’re brand new to rugby, looking for a new club after moving to the area, or an old skool rugger who just wants to be in rugby circles, Gastonia RFC is the place for you. Practices: Are on Wednesdays at North Belmont Park on Hickory Grove Rd @ 6:00 PM. Equipment: Bring shorts, cleats and a mouthguard. Our games are on Saturdays – normally kick off is around 1:00pm. We have two main seasons:. Fall – development / social season – Aug through Dec. Each season we play approximately 8 games.

004 – Ron Dasher starts a social club based in Gastonia, they adopt the name ‘Gastonia Gargoyles’. The name ‘The Gargoyles’ dates back to a previous club based in Charlotte NC, that had folded. Colors are debated, with several members having US Air Force backgrounds, Blue and White is chosen for the uniforms. 2007 – GRFC is structured as a non-profit corporation in North Carolina as Gastonia RFC Inc. GRFC expands its Clover 7s tournament to 8 mens teams and 4 U19s in two separate brackets.

Good things first….Scrums were fantastic, people played in unfamiliar positions and performed well, we had our first real “hot” game and did decent (only 3 fell out/ myself included), a few had nice runs and made good decisions, fewer no look passes.
