Sweet Peas and Sours. Cambridge, cocktails, food, garden and travel. Friday, 12 February 2016. A pretty pink cocktail, just in time for Valentine's Day. Not that I believe in nonsense like pink drinks. Rhubarb and rose love. Couple drops rhubarb bitters. Couple drops Aphrodite bitters. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker or a large glass. Add plenty of ice. Stir until chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a dried rose petal. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Other places you can find me.

Sweet Peas and Sours. Cambridge, cocktails, food, garden and travel. Friday, 17 April 2015. Allotment diary part 6: mid-week allotmenting. I tend to hide indoors. If I do go anywhere I end up grumpy and tired the next day. But the delicious weather this week tempted me out. Mid-week at the allotment: crazy. I didn't really do much down there. Just admired the first potato shoots coming through and appreciated the latest crop of weeds. Saturday, 11 April 2015. Allotment diary part 5: catch up. I got some ...

Sweet Peas and Sours. Cambridge, cocktails, food, garden and travel. Monday, 25 May 2015. Allotment diary part 8: allotment joy. It doesn't really matter to anyone other than me and Anthony but every little bit of progress lifts my spirits and gives me more satisfaction than ticking everything off my to-do list (and I really like ticking things off my list). We managed to erect some (very) rustic netting around the blackcurrant and gooseberry:. My marigolds are blooming and all is well:. The first of the...

Sweet Peas and Sours. Cambridge, cocktails, food, garden and travel. Friday, 26 June 2015. Cocktail of the month: Midsummer potion. I took this dress to a fabulous party last weekend, although I'm starting to think it took me. It only gets out of the wardrobe for the best invitations and. I am a mere vehicle for its wonder. The last time we ventured out together was to the opening of a sculpture exhibition in the garden of a beautiful inn. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Also admired my dress. The additio...

Reincarnated as a Writer: April 2013

Reincarnated as a Writer. Tuesday, 30 April 2013. 1)Zeitgeist: I looked this up as it is such a lovely word, and find it means ‘the cultural trends of a particular period’. I’m hoping that the present zeitgeist may expand to include writings about spirit guides and past lives, so my novel will be in fashion. But my son is writing his first novel, about Zombies, he really IS in the Zeitgeist! But I hope to fit in a few zzzzs. We all need them after this busy blogging month! Have a good night’s sleep!

Then I gave a short speech of thanks to everyone who ever helped, read a piece from my book and then a description of the meaning of the plaster angels in the Unitarian Church. Of James Joyce fam...
