MOTMOT bug | gavinhthomas

https://gavinhthomas.wordpress.com/2013/10/16/motmot-bug

Macroevolution: tempo and mode. Skip to primary content. October 16, 2013. The trait MEDUSA (tm1 and tm2) methods in previous versions of MOTMOT have a bug. The AIC and AICc values are incorrect due to a miscounting of the number of parameters in the model. This will affect choice among models and specifically may result in the choice of over-parameterised models. The corrected code is now on github. Thanks to Graham Slater for spotting this bug. Macroevolution: tempo and mode. Skip to primary content. Blue-crowned Motmot (photo by Stephen Turner). Motmot is an R package consisting of various functions for fitting models of trait macroevolution on trees. Most of the functions are based around fitting models of different rates of trait evolution such as those used in Thomas et al. 2006 and 2009. Or installed using the devtools package:. Library(devtools) install github("motmot", user="ghthomas"). Blog at WordPress.com.

ANTHROPHYSIS: August 2012

http://anthrophysis.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

WHERE HUMANS AND NATURE COLLIDE. Friday, 24 August 2012. A brief history of citizen science. Academic discussions of citizen science are all the rage right now (for examples, see here. While most describe the successes of individual projects, none (to my knowledge) have taken the long view and examined where this genre of research fits in to the history of science- until now, that is. This month's issue of Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment. Special issue of Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment.

Macroevolution: tempo and mode. Skip to primary content. Department of Animal and Plant Sciences. Sheffield, S10 2TN. My research focuses on modelling the diversification of species and traits at a macroevolutionary scale. I am particularly interested in how we can use information on the phylogenetic relationships among species to infer how present day biodiversity has arisen over time and ask:. How and why do lineages and traits diversify? Robert M May Prize.
