i am a grappling dummy: April 2012
http://iamagrapplingdummy.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, 28 April 2012. Twelve months on: What I've learned. I have learned (and continue to learn) techniques that looked easy until I tried doing it. I have also learned to relax if I find myself at the bottom or getting submitted (which is frequent) and concentrate on my breathing and to try to find a way out(which is less frequent). I'm sure that any low level BJJ player had this thought at some point in their training - "Now, how did that guy in the YouTube video do it again? Links to this post.

i am a grappling dummy: October 2014
http://iamagrapplingdummy.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, 23 October 2014. Been a long while since I have posted something in this blog. Things were a bit busy at work and at home, so wasn't able to find time to sit down and write. In any case, I find myself at home, off work for a month due to knee surgery, so here I am. But obviously this blog isn't what I thought it would be and now that I think of it, I'm fine with that. Sunday, 9 November 2014. Post surgery: Three weeks on. It's been three weeks since the surgery and I feel that things are going well. I have graduated to a single crutch to help with walking and weight-bearing but I could pretty much limp about around the house. Next time, I'll write about how I've been keeping myself busy. i am a grappling dummy: January 2015
http://iamagrapplingdummy.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Friday, 2 January 2015. New year, new affiliation, same family. Around early August (maybe earlier), our main instructor and school owner, Felipe Alves de Souza felt like he needed to step away from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for a while, leaving the school and causing a lot of trepidation on the part of the students and instructors alike. Our previous affiliation with Felipe and Ze Beleza will always be remembered and honoured every time we step on the mats. Our performance on the mats and our behaviour ou...

i am a grappling dummy: March 2012

Saturday, 24 March 2012. Drill to Win (repost). I am reposting this for those who are not able to access it on my blog. In the last several classes, we have been drilling techniques in side control – escapes, transitions, and submissions from this position. One good thing with attending the beginners' classes over at Battersea is that most of the techniques taught week after week tend to be chained together, so that the techniques from the previous session is revisited, as the technique is shown. That ev...

i am a grappling dummy: June 2013
http://iamagrapplingdummy.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 26 June 2013. As my training partners fill the mats at the gym, here I am, at home, trying my best to type. One hand clutches a piece of tissue paper, trying to blot my eyes as I fight to prevent the tears from running down my cheeks. Sniffling, my nose runny, eyes raw, I squint to see the monitor in front of me. I have hayfever. And it sucks big time. Sniff, squint, and sneeze. Rinse and repeat. Links to this post. Tuesday, 1 January 2013. 2013: Bring it on. You've probably read a lot of BJJ bloggers already doing a recap of how 2012 have been for their journey and whatnot. Well, this won't be much different, though I won't be dispensing of BJJ and life wisdom because I don't have any at the moment. Suffice to say, BJJ kept me sane this year. Links to this post. i am a grappling dummy: July 2012
http://iamagrapplingdummy.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, 29 July 2012. I've been using a blue belt for nearly a month now to keep my gi jacket closed on the mats. I was awarded it by Felipe Alves de Souza and José Henriqué Leão Teixeira on the recent BJJ School summer grading last July. Well, those who disputed were the white belts who smashed me the following day I got on the mats. Haha. You have to understand, when black belt awards you a belt, his name is forever associated with you - he is passing on his lineage to you . Links to this post. I am cu...
