The people who run the Gayndah Museum. The Gayndah Museum is staffed by a dedicated band of volunteers who also work hard to restore and maintain the exhibits. The Museum receives some financial assistance from the Regional Council but derives most of its income from the entrance fees that visitors pay when they visit the museum. While many local people contribute their time and efforts to the Museum their endeavours are co-ordinated by a committee. That committee consists of:.

Here in Australia the lungfish is only found in south-east Queensland and their habitat is becoming more and more restricted. The lungfish display includes two live lungfish and an interpretive display that will help you understand the place this unique creature holds in our environment. Gayndah Museum - bringing Gayndah's past into the future. Gayndah is a rural township located on the Burnett River approximately 366 km northwest of Brisbane and approximately 144 km west of Maryborough. The area around Gayndah was first explored in 1843 and the first squatters moved into the district in 1847. The township of Gayndah commenced on the site chosen, and named, by the Land Commissioner for the Burnett, Maurice Charles O'Connell in 1849. The Gayndah Museum is located in Simon Street, Gayndah.
