YIELD--Brook Seekins: How do you describe “Furlough”?
http://yieldtogod.blogspot.com/2015/05/how-do-you-describe-furlough.html
How do you describe “Furlough”? And others call it. Whatever name you give it, it means that we have returned to our home/supporting country from our host/ministry country for a short time. It does not mean we are on vacation- although many want to assume that. It just means we have switched our focus from one country to another for a while. We have a job description while at home, it just looks a little different from that on the field. Of course we enjoy some. If I have counted correctly, in the past 6...

YIELD--Brook Seekins: Youth Camps
http://yieldtogod.blogspot.com/p/youth-camps.html
Every June - July we run 3 intense weeks of Youth Camp. We invite "youth" from the area who are between the ages of 13-25. Each week is held in a different village in a different area. We reach an average of 250 young people each summer. We do lots of fun and crazy things, teach the Word of God, train them to share the Gospel, teach life-skills, play games, etc. It is a great opportunity for Young Adults to come and minister alongside our team of Tanzanian Counselors. YIELD--Brook Seekins: October 2014

The word itself is an oxymoron! Saying good-bye never seems “good”. But it a part of any cross-cultural worker’s life. We live in two worlds and must go back and forth between them at some point. So we often are saying hello and good-bye to co-workers, family, and friends. I had to say good-bye to my Tanzanian friends and co-workers. That involved meetings, parties, speaking in church, knocking on doors, etc…. I will miss these friends from my local church. Who minister to missionary women. They have...

YIELD--Brook Seekins: Marriage Camps
http://yieldtogod.blogspot.com/p/marriage-camps.html
Each morning the couples did devotions together. Because "Youth" means those up to 35 years old, we have started marriage ministries for the older "youth". They enjoy camps but often are too old to participate in all the games and like to stump the counselors with hard questions. So we try to meet the need for marriage counseling and the fun of camps in marriage camps. There is still some fun and games but a lot more class time about marriage. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). YIELD--Brook Seekins: May 2014
http://yieldtogod.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Camp is only 2 weeks away. We are feeling the time crunch as we prepare for the campers, counselors, activities, and Bible lessons. In preparation to teach certain activities, we have to find supplies and practice on our own before teaching something and finding out it can’t be done! Wow, it’s a great problem but it means some administrative wisdom. We most likely will divide the group into 2 for some things to make sure they fit and all get a chance to participate! That’s more than 600 # of flour,...

YIELD--Brook Seekins: July 4th
http://yieldtogod.blogspot.com/2015/07/july-4th.html
We found a crew of Americans gathered there for the holiday. Serving in several different locations and with a couple different organizations we found our fellow countrymen and gathered for games, fellowship, and good food. We enjoyed another couple days of rest and fellowship before making the trek back up the mountain to Mumba. Now it’s time to unpack and get settled back in after a month of craziness and serving God.
