Tinsley House, located on the perimeter of Gatwick Airport, opened in 1996. It has a capacity to hold a maximum of just under 150 people at any one time, including provision for four families in a separate unit that was completely refurbished in early 2011. The private security firm G4S is contracted by the Home Office to run Tinsley House. They manage the day-to-day running of the centre but do not have any control over who is detained or for how long they stay in detention. Website by 2 Heads Together.

Brook House opened in March 2009, and is located about half a mile from Tinsley House. On the south perimeter of Gatwick Airport. It has the capacity to hold 426 men, divided in to four separate wings. As part of the government procedure on removing families, decided in December 2010, Cedars Pre-departure Accommodation was opened at Pease Pottage, south of Crawley, in August 2011. It can accommodate up to nine families at a time in self-contained apartments. The families can be held for up to 72 hours before departure from the UK.
