Put on my Q rings on both bikes today, hope i can get some speed from them. 40K is tough. Ive never done it that fast. QuickKarl, Pack Fodder. Friday, October 23, 2009. I bought a set of time trial rings awhile back, (May) on the advice of a friend. I also did some research and found some good write ups on various cycling sites. I've used them all season and i do feel they have helped me get a little more power to the road and i haven't felt any unusual knee or leg pain. Haven't used them on any long steep climbs yet, we'll see how they do next spring at the SI training camp. Thursday, October 8, 2009.

October 16, 2012. Melissa and I ran the 30 mile Farmdale Trail Run. On Saturday near East Peoria, IL. We heard about this race just a couple weeks ago from our friend Chris. And since Melissa's parents live nearby they were able to watch Will while she and I spent hours in the woods. And I felt my fitness had even improved since then. She was worried that she would finish dead last, but she was right in the middle, 24th of 47 overall and 4th female. Pretty good for her first trail ultra. Photo of the Day.

September 9, 2012. August was consumed by tapering for Howl at the Moon. I made up for the lack of cycling with a bunch of walking and hiking. This doesn't hurt my knee at all, and I'm more convinced than ever that walking/hiking is actually remarkable effective training for long/ultra distance running. September 30, 2010. The first weekend I stayed in our new house in St. Louis I saw there was going to be a huge cross country race at nearby Forest Park. While the event was mostly aimed at high school runners, they had a 4K. Race (2.5 miles). Having just whet my appetite for cross country at the DHS alumni race. I'm too old for this shit. By which of course I meant races. I finished in 14:50 (5:58 pace), 25. And I somehow managed to get 3. In the 30-39 age group. I guess youve still got it Nice Job!

I actually had my 2nd best time down this particular canyon, and truth be told I wasn't really pushing it and I was riding solo with no draft.
