The Book of the Gear

The Book of the Gear. Apr 19th, 2006 11:40 pm. The hallway running at right angles to our current hall was somewhat narrower than this one. On the left, it ran back perhaps thirty feet and terminated in a stone wall punched with small round drainage holes, which had drooled rust stains in long streaks down the stone. The corridor smelled faintly of seaweed and dried fish. Apr 19th, 2006 09:09 am. The opening, rather like a large picture window, looked out into a small, square courtyard. Red is generally ...

Heinrich grunted the grunt of being grudgingly impressed. I said - The Book of the Gear. Jan 17th, 2006 09:16 am. Heinrich grunted the grunt of being grudgingly impressed. I said Whoa. The room was basically square, with a very high ceiling, and a large alcove on the far wall. Set partially within this alcove was an enormous spiral staircase that reached up into darkness. It was a stairway fit for an emperor, sitting in a small concrete room at the end of a dirt path underground. And thus we can only hop...

The square room that interlocked the room with the root wall was - The Book of the Gear. Dec 25th, 2005 01:11 am. The square room that interlocked the room with the root wall was empty. On the far wall, another door opened into a very small nexus, perhaps four feet on a side. A corridor ran off in each direction, two unremarkable hallways of the common sort to the left and right, and forward, a circular pipe-mouth, tall enough for Heinrich to walk, and just wide enough for Mirabelle. The clinking noise c...

Left from the nexus this time, and past the fox’s cell, the hall - The Book of the Gear. Apr 19th, 2006 09:09 am. Left from the nexus this time, and past the fox’s cell, the hall continued a fair distance. A doorway opened on the left, and another hall crossed this one at right angles about fifteen feet past that. The opening, rather like a large picture window, looked out into a small, square courtyard. But someplace on the other side of the globe, under the moon instead of the sun? Well, regardless&#46...

Right from the nexus, the hall ran twenty feet, and came to a - The Book of the Gear. Jan 15th, 2006 11:46 am. Right from the nexus, the hall ran twenty feet, and came to a threshold. We had to step down a few inches, and the concrete gave way to packed earth, although here and there, square blocks of cement protruding through the pathway indicated that we had by no means reached the bottom of the maze. I pulled one of the reeds. It came up with a slight resistance, revealing a silt-clotted root syst...

Hamjamser: April 2006

http://hamjamser.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 25, 2006. I just realized that I drew a picture of Cafe ):S) while I was there. The cook, seeing what I was doing, was kind enough to pose with one of her steamed sump squids. After some digging through my old drawings, I managed to unearth this one. Here it is. Posted by Nigel Tangelo at 5:44 PM. Saturday, April 22, 2006. Posted by Nigel Tangelo at 11:17 PM. Friday, April 21, 2006. You know, Nigel, reading your profile took me back to my childhood. Posted by Steve Emery at 9:56 PM.

Hamjamser: February 2006

http://hamjamser.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 27, 2006. Greetings from the Kilopede. This is quite a surprise! I got your letter this morning and nearly fell out of my pagoda. I've never tried writing a blog before, unless you count the time I started interviewing all those spindle beetles who kept mistaking me for Captain Tamarac. That isn't exactly the same, though. I never did find out who Captain Tamarac was, by the way. None of the spindle beetles seemed to know. I'm glad to hear that the mountain's doing well! Currently I'm li...

Hamjamser: May 2007

http://hamjamser.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 14, 2007. A Very Long Explanation for the Curious. Though the incessant rain and occasional hail have stopped (for the most part), the hills around Cormilack are still too sodden from rain and thawed snow to travel safely. Bits of road have a tendency to wander off downhill to explore. Even the Kilopedes are staying away; I haven't seen a single one since I left the one that brought me here. I suppose you've probably been wondering where I've been these last few months. Disrupt the weather ar...

Hamjamser: March 2006

http://hamjamser.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 26, 2006. This is a view of my mountain shortly after sunrise, with the moon and grandmoon visible over the double peak. Glee Fiddler's Onion is on the opposite side from here. Posted by Steve Emery at 3:06 PM. Friday, March 03, 2006. Just in case you were wondering what the countryside looks like around here, I drew a picture when the Kilopede stopped to eat a few small trees yesterday. I hope it comes through the mail in good shape. Posted by Nigel Tangelo at 12:56 PM. A Game of Cards.

Hamjamser: April 2007

http://hamjamser.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 30, 2007. Konjoo Storks and Cloud Shadows. Just a little letter to describe my latest fascination. To the west of Glee Fiddler's Onion, the town near my mountain, there is a range of hills, round and pointed like fingers, that rake the oncoming clouds into uniform small sections. These small clouds blow towards the village over the sandy, sleepy roads, and have inspired a game the children play with konjoo storks. Do keep me posted on your travels. Your father, Virgil Tangelo.

Hamjamser: March 2007

http://hamjamser.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 27, 2007. The Palace of Madmen. The Palace of Madmen takes in all types of lunatics, and - as far as I've heard - makes more sense to them than the outside world. Like most people on Hamjamser, the vast majority of them are friendly and perfectly harmless. Unfortunately, not all of them are. The maze welcomes the dangerous ones just as readily; it simply keeps the rest of its inhabitants safely away from them. When I stepped back, the door frame had gone as well. Only a rectangle of fa...
