The first short story in this diminutive book of the same name as the title was gorgeous! Sensual, dark, erotic, it was a beautiful take on the Bluebeard tale. The rest of the short stories, based on other fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood, Puss in Boots, etc. were good, but didn't have the intensity and immediacy of the first. It really sucks you in, and I love the open ending. I love historical fiction and this really fits the bill. I totally recommend it. I've also read some more of Cheryl's Escorts Entangled. Slightly off topic, but I sat down and read 2 issues of Science Illustrated, 1 issue of Discover, and 1 issue of Mental Floss. I've come to the conclusion that I'll let my Discover subscription lapse as I prefer the "illustrations" and explanations in Science Illustrated more. And Mental Floss is love! So I picked up and finished Angels in America. The play that was turned into an HBO miniseries. Very good.

I love her Mrs. Murphy and Tee Tucker series of small-town Virginia murder mysteries. Come on, the sleuths are a tiger cat and a Pembroke Welsh corgi; how awesome is that! The people are pretty cool too; very down-to-earth and real. I've read four or five others from this series and they never disappoint. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
