Sunday, November 9, 2008. Couple of weeks ago, fine, warm, cockatoos, cat. Nice sunset with only a little haze and smoke. Then some more smoke came. Really red, but hard to breathe! Started getting so bad that we couldn't see the city. No more red sunset - not really any sunset at all. The only hope was rain, but clouds come and go, no rain. In the end, there was a total fire ban and it was really choking. This was about the worst on Saturday evening after more smoke blew in and settled in the valley.

Sunday, April 20, 2008. We decided that night just to eat at the hotel which meant no walking in the heat, but the food there was not good at all. Oh well. Next day we hit the shops first thing. Lucky for us, the hotel was two blocks from a huge shopping centre. Also, we are not in a very touristy part and there were really only locals in the shops. Clothes shopping, however, was depressing as there is rather a size difference between us and Singaporeans! All the shops were Malaysian influenced. Actually...

Friday, August 29, 2008. Live-blogging the move (as per Normal). 8am - Llew unplugs the TV, stereo and Xbox. 8:02 - Llew complains about how heavy the kitchen cabinet is. That's called good quality! 8:23 - Peanuts is not happy as the beds are cleared. 8:51 - Llew starts sneezing from dust. 8:52 - Many boxes moving downstairs. 9am - With cheering from Alice we pause to look around. Still so much stuff! 9:30 - HOT. Pepsi. Cars getting loaded. Waiting to get truck. The start of the move. Not even a mouse.

Friday, July 11, 2008. We have bought a house! We didn't want to jinx anything so we have waited until we got guaranteed finance and the inspection passed to blog about it. So here it is! Monday, March 31, 2008. How not to get where you want to go (Especially with your luggage). If you haven't worked it out yet and haven't been following the news, we managed to be some of the first passengers to fly though BA's. New terminal 5 at Heathrow. To the computer system to the brand new baggage system shutting down in the early afternoon (more on that later). Rather than reverse the 30 m we needed. Starting to bring a long story short, we arrived. Norway: Part 3 - Walk in the snow. Go for a walk!

Saturday, October 27, 2007. Whew - I took my whole research team (Shanna, Shawn, and Llew) . To London for the 7th Design Thinking and Research Symposium. We presented our paper (and did a fabulous job if I might say so) and celebrated with a pint (or two) at some old pubs. You can see this in the picture below - where Lugh is ordering us some pints -. Many of the pubs put great effort into silly names - this is the only picture we had that we felt comfortable publishing. A good time was had by all.

Friday, October 24, 2008. Okay, this worked out to be a good week. So great that I had to stop and think "why". This is what I thought of. Lugh did really well in dog training! Wow And no "argh argh argh" foot biting (almost, but he snapped out of it as quickly as he started). The only down side was Lugh's extraordinary gastrointestinal prowess. Stinky butt. Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Then I picked up Llew and Gemma so they could experience their first AMERICAN Halloween. They dug right in. As you can see, this was serious work - deep concentration. Our first carved pumpkin - look at the proud parents:. Lugh was of course very proud - although he wanted to eat it. We ended up with 7 pumpkins (wow) - our own little pumpkin patch where we can await the Great Pumpkin. This was a witch Gemma carved - very clever how she carved the hat into the top part.
