Geoff's Cycling Blog

Friday, August 26, 2016. Haute Route Pyrenees: Day 7. Not the most specular of stages, but still a remarkable day. Finishing a grand tour is an accomplishment few own. At the end, time and placing are relatively irrelevant. Lining up at the start seven mornings in row and riding to the finish each day is what matters most. Proud of Buster. The first tour is by far the hardest. The Day 7 finish line is a feeling like no other and he’s now experienced it. Saved some fresh sock dope for the last day. Unfort...

Geoff's Cycling Blog: July 2010

http://geoffscyclingblog.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 4, 2010. TransAlps 2010: Day 7. Day 7: Trento to Arco. Haas and Wilf pre-start line looking "tip-top" as per usual. These guys had great energy each day of this event - both are a solid 12 out of 10. Here's Mike. He killed Day 7. Finished with the pros. If he came back and rode with a partner his vintage, Mike would podium the Grand Masters category. The final pre-race stage. Very fitting background tunes to start the day. Great experience. Lots learned. Home on Monday. Friday, July 2, 2010.

Tuesday, July 7, 2015. TransAlps 2015: Day 7 Trento to Arco. Day 7 Trento, Italy to Arco, Italy. 91km 2,300m of climbing. 3hr6min. 8th in Masters on the day. 8th in Masters GC for the event. 28th overall in the entire field. It’s hova. Done and dusted. Finito. Finished. Great finish in Acro on Lake Riva. Lots of celebration. Fast bike pack and then a drive to Verona for a nice dinner and flight home the following day. A couple turning points that defined the event for me. 2 Day 5. First climb was tou...

http://geoffscyclingblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/transalps-2015-day-5-aprica-to-kaltern.html

Thursday, July 2, 2015. TransAlps 2015: Day 5 Aprica to Kaltern. Day 5 Aprica, Italy to Kaltern, Italy. 138km 2,400m of climbing. 4hr07min. 6th in Masters on the day. 10th in Masters GC. Another great day in the saddle with very little drama. Well, maybe a bit of drama. We've figured out who we're chasing to get into the top 10 and who we need to be staying with to move up spots. Makes the stages quite interesting and a little "racey". Here's where the drama started. Total routine day-day here. Finis...

Sunday, June 28, 2015. TransAlps 2015: Day 1 Sonthofen to Imst. Day 1 Sonthofen to Imst. 121km 2400m of climbing. 3:55:37. 17th place in Masters. Hard start. More on that later. Joerg and Matt briefing Magic Places Team Canada. Spun for 20min and then rolled to start for photo op. Photo from 2012. Wilbur and his badass necklace care of his wife, and world famous designer, Shereen de Rousseau. Generous lady gave me my own this year if I promised to bring Wilbur home safely. Probably gave up 12minutes on t...

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. TransAlps 2015: Day 3 Davos to Livigno. Day 3 Davos, Switzerland to Livigno, Italy. 133km 3200m of climbing. 4hr55min. 9th in Masters on the day. 16th in Masters GC. Excellent day. Rode back into this thing. Didn’t start that way. Image of food I carried on course today. Banana, fig bar, two waffles, two Rice Krispie squares, one Snickers and one Shot Block. A lot of food to get down while riding hard. Hammer down for an hour to ride through most of the field and get back up to th...

Bruce family in Provence. A journal of spring and summer in southern France. Archive for July, 2011. As many of you know, back in February I entered a bike race called Tour TransAlps. The race took place between June 26. Starting in Sonthoven Germany and ending near the shores of Lake Garda in Italy. The course covers 920 km over 7 days through the German, Austrian and Italian Alps. Total climbing is just under 20,000 meters equal to climbing up Cypress from the highway about 34 times. Geoff's Devotional Blog. A personal devotional commentary on Mark's Gospel. An Occasional personal devotion on Mark. Elation and devastation (Mark 5 v 30-34). January 4, 2014. Maranatha Christian Bookshop Uxbridge. Well I can imagine Your disciples reaction. They’re being squashed on all sides with people trying to get a piece of the action. Then they made the mistake. They state the obvious. What do You expect Lord, there are people everywhere. They’re all touching You. He was absolutely devastated.

geoffsdirecting | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. February 18, 2015. It wouldn’t be the end of February without my annual ranking of the years’ Best Picture nominees. The entries this year are mostly forgettable, but with real quality at the top end of the scale. The novelty this year is that I was sick for a week at the start of the month and in my delirium managed to force myself to watch all 8 movies, a major departure from 2013. 8 The Theory of Everything. 1,761 more words. February 18, 2015. The Grand Budapest Hotel.
