April 26, 2012 by georgemorley. We left Gibraltar on New Year’s Eve 1944 with a convoy. It was enormous, we did not think that the Allies had that many ships left. The weather was very bad and only two of us on our table turned up for breakfast. We were told that we would be attacked by U-boats as the Huns had a big offensive on. (The Ardennes, 16. December).
